So, is this Black Panther character a kang?

There are some pussies in this thread. Movie looks good, glad it is getting positive reviews beyond the Fox News echo chamber.

She'd better save a tear for when the Cajun people finally see representation in the Gambit movie.

This movie is either going to be awesome because BP is an awesome character and I actually like the Wakanda backstory...

...or it will be a SJW shitshow because, well, Hollywood these days.

I'm cautiously hoping for the former, but the latter seems to be happening more frequently these days.

Why? He's the king of a nation, so of course it's going to be political.

No black reviewers in your #BlackPanther reactions round-up is not a good look — and I’m saying that as the first person quoted in this piece.

Can’t wait to see the SJW reaction when this ends up the lowest grossing Marvel movie yet.

Pretty bold considering it's setting opening weekend preorder records.

I puked reading those obnoxiously pandering and idiotic reviews.

Bless your heart if you really don't think it'll not be #1 at the box office with big numbers. Seeing as the lowest grossing Marvel movie was The Punisher with $8 million grossed at the box office (I won't even count "Inhumans"), I think it's safe to say your prediction won't be accurate

Marvel Comics at the Box Office History

They're already setting Marvel records for pre-sale tickets right now. If you don't want to see it, that's okay. Some of you are really doing the most right now and are acting like some snowflakes. CHILL.

I actually have a really good feeling about it. Not because of the reviews, but because of what I saw from the character in Civil War (albeit in a limited role) and what I've seen in the trailer. On the surface, I think they did a great job with the casting, and I think it'll be a really good addition to the Marvel Universe.

This.

Michael B Jordan is criminally underrated as an actor.

Chadwick Boseman already owned basically every scene with his character in Civil War.

Andy Serkis chews scenery like normal people chew bubble gum.

And until Ryan Coogler makes a bad film I have no reason to believe that he ever will.

I liked Creed, and this is only the director's third film.

The guy playing Black Panther was awesome in Civil War and the previews have been cool.

But these reviews are so obnoxious:

It's 100% African & it is dope af.

emotional & complex story about family ties & protecting your tribe.

the action is predictably awful, but this is the first MCU film that has an actual sense of identity & history & the women steal the show!

A superhero movie about why representation & identity matters, and how tragic it is when those things are denied to people.

Marvels most political movie.

BLACK PANTHER is black as frick and I love it for it.

I'm not too worried about that. Marvel seems to respect their properties more than most, so I suspect it will get a respectable treatment. The reviewers on the other hand....

It's gonna get unwarranted love just like Wonder Woman because of it being the first mainstream black superhero....difference with Black Panther and Wonder Woman is Black Panther will actually deserve the majority of love it gets unlike Wonder Woman.

Chewing scenery has always had a negative connotation to me. I don't think you're meaning to use it that way.

This is a weird thing to say seeing as he only has 2 credits to his name, both staring Michael B Jordan and the first one almost no one has heard of and the second one was guaranteed to be watched because it's a Rocky movie.

He's only made 3 movies, one of which isn't released yet. The law of averages says he'll eventually make a bad movie.
