If you want to get particular, because I'm not sure you see the difference.
Bad CGI here:
Is a lot different than bad CGI here:
Marvel uses CGI in Winter Soldier pretty sparingly for major, front of screen action. Most of the fight sequences are practical effects. the Fury shoot out, the Bridge Sequence, etc. When they use, they use it for big exaggerated movements (Cap jumping over the Heliplane), Falcon flying, and for all of the big rigs. Psychologically people know that the Helicarrier does not exist, therefore it's ok that it looks slightly awkward. Same for the Krypton CGI in MoS. No one complained about it because Krypton doesn't exist. Bad CGI there is understandable.
But particularly in all of Snyder's fight sequences, he overuses CGI, uses it when he doesn't need it, and uses it for people a significant portion of the time. Bad CGI on Batman is going to "feel" different than bad CGI on Iron Man, for better or worse.
In particular, in BvS, he CGI's the entire landdscape basically for the Dommsday fight. Everything looks "Fake," and feels fake. And nearly every character in every scene is CGI, compare that to something like the action sequences in Dr. Strange, regardless of the difference, those feel way more natural. Part of this is due to color saturation, again, Snyder's need to colorize everything for effect enhances the already "unnatural" feeling. The Doomsday fight does not feel like it happens on a real Earth, where Winter Soldier does, regardless of the shoddy Helicarrier CGI.

Lex Luthor used a prototype bullet, seemingly for no reason at all other than Snyder needed it for the plot, that he invented to try to secretly set up Superman by trying to show that Superman would use a gun to kill some soldiers in a foreign land or something and then Lois Lane somehow found that bullet or some such nonsense. The whole thing made no sense.
All that was stupid...yup. But the thing that made me laugh out loud in the theater was the fact that Lois suddenly accidentally found it in her field notebook...when finally back at home.
What in the actual frick?? So...the Pulitzer Prize winner reporter carried her field notebook from the time it was hit with the bullet, through multiple airports, and not once looked in it...or better yet, not once did it set off any alarms at an airport?
For fricks' sake, my father-in-law stupidly forgot he had some key chain with a bullet on it when trying to go through the airport and nearly got body cavity searched...

But “Dark” works with Batman and World War I. I don’t see how you could possibly make an upbeat movie about the Western Front.

I am in the same boat as Sentrius on this. I went all the way through the release of BvS before I saw MoS for the awful Superman movie it was. I defended the shite out of MoS here for weeks. It wasn;t until the very arguments I was making in favor of the changes Snyder had made failed to materialize in any way in BvS did I finally have to admit the guy simply ruined Superman and made a shitty movie.

Save for me not being a fan of them going with Zod,
What's pretty cool about that movie, is if you go watch it but you watch it from the beginning with Zod as the hero/protagonist and Superman as the villain/antagonist.
From that point of the view the movie is actually pretty good. Superman is a lifelong a-hole with no moral compass who watches his own dad die and then destroys people's lives for no reason occasionally.
Zod,on the other hand, is a war hero general trying to find a new land for his people.
It's a brutal tale where the villain wins in the end over a much more likable and charismatic protagonist.

In the previews for JL, the CGI looks video game-like. I'm not sure if that is saying that our video games are improving or that the CGI just looks that bad.

I'm a massive DC fanboy, from the TV shows, to the comic books, etc.
Marvel has the better cinematic universe, it's not even comparable - BUT they are starting to fall apart in recent time. Doctor Strange was just ok and Gardians v2 just didn't really do it for me (even though I ended up watching it twice in the theaters because of friends) This was after I was severely disappointed with Civil War, but as of right now they have a cinematic universe that absolutely destroys DC, even with their shortfalls.
As a DC fanboy I want the cinematic universe to succeed - too this day I subscribe to Nightwing, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman... but they have lost me, and it'll take a lot for them to bring me back. A part of it is that DC just can't figure it out on the cinematic front, and now we have been at the Superhero genre for so long... I'm just getting tired of it.

There are cut scenes in Injustice 2 on PS4 that look way better than this shite. Aside from it being stupid, it looks fricking horrendous.

Here you go....
That's the genesis of frustration for a few of us. Those MoS threads were pretty epic when we knew we had it right but no one listened.....

I loved those threads. So many people trying so desperately to defend it and then the few of us who saw it for what it was trying to pry reality into their views

Someone claimed the bullet plot point in BvS was such a fatal flaw the movie was completely ruined for him
That’s only reason #153 why BvS sucks. I could rant for 4 hours about it before I got to that point.
quote:
I point out the completely ridiculous and unbelievable plot point of recovering fingerprints from ridged bullets fired into concrete and get the equivalent of, "But Snyder sucks!"
There are tons and tons of plot holes in TDK, like how could the Joker possibly know where a Helicopter would be, or how he could time when exactly they could shoot the mayor, or how he could get that amount of explosives in a hospital with only like 4 hours notice.
But guess what: it has well written characters, dialog, and well cut/suspenseful scenes. I’m pretty forgiving of plot holes so long as they don’t shite on the characters, which Snyder does in almost every line of dialog and action.
Yeah, great job Superman. 50 people just died all so that you can look like a badass in front of an explosion.

Who cares about the CGI? I was highly invested in everything from The Winter Soldier. BvS is nonstop nonsense that constantly takes me out of a scene.
quote:
I could go on, but the point is if y'all don't acknowledge that the DC movies get put under a microscope here while Marvel gets a pass for even worse or shoddier filmmaking, you're not being honest.
How about characters, or a fulfilling arc? Or just non out right obliviousness to anything that doesn’t directly happen on the screen?

That gif is so fricking bad.
I mean, Zack Snyder once tweeted this photo to PROVE that he wasnt using CGI for aquaman. This photo was his go to proof of a LACK of CGI.

Yeah...I know.
Even now, I glance back at that movie and there are bits and pieces I like, and had he done things differently with BvS, I'd argue would have been nice little twists for the character...
In hindsight, that's not what he was doing. He just hated and misunderstood the character and had no real plan to ever get to where he really resembled superman.

Or how could he time the bus scene so perfectly? Or why the frick didn't Batman capture him after he jumped out the window? Or how could Bruce not see the difference between Maggie Gyllenhaal and Katie Holmes? Or why didn't Joker put the boats on a timer like he did everything else? Or why is Eckhart great and then suddenly loses a of his acting chops when he becomes Twoface?
Yes there are plenty of plot holes, but as you said, the movie is well paced, well shot, not too reliant on CGI, and it has a strong core group of characters that were developed well and stuck to the source material.

I think it's pretty obvious watching BvS that the character he really wanted to do was Batman. The Batman scenes are very well done, and easily the best parts in that terrible film. Superman was an afterthought.

If you've never lifted a fingerprint in your life, then that tech may have convinced you in TDK. Obviously, you haven't. It was ridiculous to the extreme. Having said that, did it ruin the movie for me? Hell, no. TDK is still my favorite superhero movie. They were both plot points that strain the bounds of credulity but I don't let it cause an existential crisis like it did that one poster.
