And yet somehow it is no surprise that “Justice League ” tips the balances back in the wrong direction. Although marginally better than “Batman v Superman” and “Suicide Squad,” director Zack Snyder’s latest is still a profound mess of maudlin muscles, incoherent action and jaw-droppingly awful CGI. It is big, loud, awful to look at and oh-so-dumb.

I will see this eventually, but this series of films will never get me to pay money to go into a cinema ever again.

Why is Snyder still allowed to do these movies?

Is anyone really surprised at this point? I think I’d rather give myself a swirly in a Tiger Stadium toilet for three straight hours than subject myself to paying to sit through this movie.

I read a comment on Reddit from someone claiming to have seen it. Said the CGI looked like it was from the SyFy channel.

Yikes...

and Superman’s mouth which looks a little...off. It’s likely because the production had to digitally remove Cavill’s “Mission: Impossible 6" mustache for re-shoots. After experiencing this unnaturally altered face on the big screen, it seems like the worst possible compromise.

People need to stop with this stupid shite, also... I honestly can;t think of one superhero movie except maybe for Iron Man 2 & 3 where a dude wasn't shirtless fo no fricking reason at some point in the movie other than making sure the women dragged to see the flick got something out of it. even Paul fricking Rudd got ripped up and shirtless for Ant-Man for frick's sake...and this guy is gonna bitching about a similar thing with Gadot?

quote:

And never has it been so obvious that the character of Wonder Woman is now being presented through a man’s eyes. Snyder chooses on multiple occasions to let the shot linger on Gadot’s figure, whether panning up her legs unnecessarily to get to a normal scene of dialogue or making sure that the camera is there to capture the moment when her skirt flies up in an action sequence. It is, quite frankly, gross and a wildly disappointing departure from what Patty Jenkins was able to accomplish with the character earlier this year.

Here's a review that sounds like they watched a totally different film.

Another positive review. Weird how there can be such polar opposite reactions.

I know you cats are going to dismiss what I'm going to say next because a cynical a-hole is saying:

CGI is mostly bad, period. Good filmmakers compensate with editing, practical effects as transition pieces and just flat out don't overuse it.

Bad filmmakers overrely on it because they don't have a good story to tell, so they need lots of fast random action for the millenials.

Having said that - it is an incredible tool - it allows for the telling of stories that would be either impossible or look even worse with practical effects. But CGI is more a cost-cutting technique than a "wow" inducing enhancing technique - even in 2017 (at least for me).

Seeing a trend? It seems as if you liked Man of Steel, BvS you'll be on board for this...which makes sense. those who did not are likely going to find much of the same crap they disliked about the other DC movies in here as well.

Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckmann both liked it and neither were fans of BvS.

The LA Times review hardly read like one tbh. It describes what happens and gives lots of credit to whedon for adding humor... not much else.

lots of miserable sounding people on this board. I'm going to see this Friday. If I only went to MTB approved movies, I'd never leave the house.

I kind of am miserable, but only because of what WB did with these characters, despite having the entire thing teed up for them by Marvel. I've enjoyed the Marvel stuff FAR MORE because they've been far more enjoyable movies...but I was never a Marvel fan. I've been wanting a live action Justice League movie since I was a kid waking up early on Saturday morning to watch Super Friends in the 70's! When Marvel got their stuff going and was successful with the shared universe, I was gigged up because it meant that Justice League was on it's way...

The fact that I've hated all of it is NOT on me, but on them. You'd have been hard pressed to have found someone that was more in the bag for wanting to like these things, but wanting to like them and actually liking them are two different things.

To each his own, though...so if WB has made films that you enjoy here, by all means enjoy them. My not enjoying them isn't me "hating," but me loving the source so much that it makes me angry they didn't honor it.

Many on this board say they want both Marvel and DC to succeed, but I suspect quite of few of them are lying. For some reason or another, fans have decided to take sides and most on this board have taken the Marvel side.

i don't bother with reviews. if a movie sounds like something i want to see, then i go see it. I'm pretty sure i've seen all of the Marvel and DC movies.
