Harrison Ford. It's obvious he hasn't done anything in a while. His acting was just bad IMO.

Ford is as overrated as it gets.

I love how the black dude beat the frick out of kylo. Apparently everyone has conquered how to use the force. That use to be something you had to learn. Now you can just do it with no training.

No film is above criticism. However, with some of the critics of this film it is as if you didn't even watch the movie. Kylo absolutely destroyed Fin. Kylo toyed with him for 20 seconds, knocks the lightsaber out of his hand and then cut into his spine. Seriously, go watch it again.

I liked it overall but the worst part by far imo was the cheesy dialogue.

Look at the old Star Treks...people are 40 and 50.

Look at the new Star Trek, the entire crew looks like they're under 25.

Star Wars...everyone from Rey to Kylo to Boyega looks like they are under 25...with a token appearance from senior citizens from the original to pretend we are bridging the gap.

But the gap is huge.

Where's the generation in between?

The people that would rise through the ranks...and eventually be important players at a seasoned age in these universes?

Lucas may have ruined the franchise by marketing to kids but at least his movies weren't just full of kids in charge like Abrams.

It's pure marketing. And that ruins creativity and good story-telling.

Hollywood knows their audience is 25 years and younger to buy tickets. So everything is dumbed-down to Saved by the Bell with cool action.

There hasn't been a new Star Trek with a complex story...and certainly TFA doesn't bode well for the future of Star Wars story-telling. So simplistic.

TFA is actually boring on re-watch...it's doesn't even hold up now, in its infancy.

How long did A New Hope hold up? Forever?

I liked TFA a lot, but the numerous similarities to A New Hope and the massive number of plot holes have me nervous for the future of the franchise.

Since when was this a reboot? As far as I (and the rest of the world knows) it's a continuation of all the other movies. If it was a reboot, they should have said it a lot more and marketed it better.

You realize that Kylo had literally just killed his dad and got shot with a weapon that they had been building up its power the entire movie right?

I think it's safe to assume that he's likely in an emotional breakdown along with having a very serious wound that came from a weapon that was making stormtroopers fly 10-feet across the room when they got shot with it.

Very underwhelming. Just a bad movie IMO.

Thanks for an honest review. I'm a big fan of the original Star Wars trilogy but my husband and I missed the debut of this new Star Wars in theaters. Sounds like we didn't miss much. I'm sure I will check it out on DVD at some point but I won't be in a hurry.

It wasn't a reboot. It just ripped off the original so much that the fanboys are calling it a reboot. The mental gymnastics of those desperately trying to convince themselves that it's good are of Olympic caliber.

You even have people like OML making shite up and calling it a "soft reboot" whatever the frick that is and doubling down by saying "it had to be this way."

They had to rip off the original, dude. They had no choice. It was for the better of mankind.

And how bad were the prequels that this movie, warts and all, was universally loved when it first came out by almost every Star Wars fan? It was closer to what everyone wanted. I agree that another Death Star-like thing and some stupid things here and there were not real good, but it was a lot better than the last 3 efforts before it.

I agree with most of what you wrote. It wasn't very good. Pretty average.

Adam Driver - 32
Oscar Isaac - 37
Domhnall Gleeson - 33

In the original trilogy, Hammil was 26 and Fischer was 21.

Any other blatantly incorrect bullshite you feel like spewing?

And, according to the timeline, they were both playing 19 year olds. Which I think is more important to the argument that they are trying to cater to younger ages with the new movies.

Doesn't matter how old they actually are. They're supposed to look younger, and do.

And the rest is true. It's a modern action movie formula, and there's not much distinction between franchises. That's really all the disneys are good at anyway.

Lens flares, death stars and random tentacle monsters. So groundbreaking.

How many lens flares were in "The Force Awakens"?

But who was really old in ANH? Seems like everyone was in their 20s and late teens. Yeah there was Obi Wan, Vader, and Tarkin, but that's it.
