Stop pulling that right out of your arse, because its made clear he was never well trained. He never passed any real trial.

But if he had just murdered his own dad, and been shot in the chest with a shotgun, and I had plenty of prior martial arts training and I was fighting for my life and had a magical force behind be and was descended from a line of genetically gifted fighters, I might stand a chance.

He was wearing armor and was barely bleeding (LINK ). He is a trained swordsman and should be a master at the art. He also had the magical force and should be more powerful than her. This would have been like Luke defeating Vader in the first movie before he ever got any training from Obi Wan or Yoda. I just can't accept that..

In the first 18 seconds of that clip he's bleeding through his clothes into the snow. Then he bitches Rey, the he bitches Finn, then he makes a big deal about how much it hurt and obviously it gets worse as he fights.

He was spurting blood into the snow. And the shot went through the armor. A force like that would've rattled his internal organs.

You made that up right?

Vader was a trained Jedi, a trained Sith Lord, and had years hunting down people also trained and killing them to sharpen his skills.

Kylo was not anywhere near the level of Vader. In fact, the writers made sure you know this when they specifically put a scene about him needing to compete his training into the movie at the end.

I swear some of you criticizing the movie either didn't watch the movie or are too caught up in what you hoped the plot and characters would be you didn't even pay attention to the actual movie.

Dude, here is the canon history of Kylo Ren (LINK ). After reading it, tell me that he was not a trained swordsmen. Or how can he destroy the new jedi order, burn it to the ground and then join the Knights of Ren, if he wasn't a Knight or on that level?

Of course he wasn't. He was young and torn in-between two sides. But he should have been years advanced of Rey. That was my comparison, a guy trained for decades by both sides of the force against someone that just discovered it the day before.

He was beaten down....shot dead cold with the chewblaster. Sliced by Finn once...bleeding...still overly emotional from killing his own father.

And you do not know who Rey really is or from whence she comes.

You don't find this statement slightly contradictory? Especially considering all the "explanations " that have to be given to mask obvious real issues with TFA.

Doesn't matter how old they actually are. They're supposed to look younger, and do.

And the young cast of Star Wars was supposed to look older, Han and Leia, bunch of older commanders and Jedis...only Luke was purposefully cast as a green horn...remember "too short to be a storm trooper" that was also code for too young.

Now the entire galaxy is too short and too young.

Which is fine. I understand Hollywood has realized only teenagers really pay their meal ticket...so they want to have people in films who look and act like teenagers...and not adults.

THat's just economics.

But it's not good movie-making. Lucas made the original Star Wars for everyone. THere wasn't this focus group and numbers that told him to target, A, B, C.

I think Star Wars actually escaped a fate that was better than Star Trek...which, I was never a Trekkie but I can't imagine anyone growing up in the 70's/80's/90's watching re-runs and can look at Abrams Star Trek and simply think of a giant douchebag created cartoon. It's freakin' Scooby-Doo...look at the plots, Star Trek is now Scooby-doo. There's no seriousness, there's no attempt at science, it's comical quips, 90210 cast, fast action sequences, lens flares and the mystery to solve...Scooby-Doo.

I would be furious if I was ever a Trekkie and I would be furious as a Star Wars fan with TFA...because you can see the franchise going that bubble-gum pop way.

My only complaint/hope is that Poe plays a larger role going forward. He's very Solo-esque and will fill that void nicely.

Haven't read the thread but, you nailed these:

quote:

The girl. I thought she had potential. She can be a good character going forward.

She, actress and character, is perfect.

quote:

Did they just rehash the original?
Yes. Pissed me off so bad the first time that i had to go back to enjoy it.

quote:

he provided nothing though.
Yup

quote:

Harrison Ford. It's obvious he hasn't done anything in a while. His acting was just bad IMO.

Yup

quote:

My god, how they completely fricked that up. Did they think having a whiny little teenage brat as a villain would work? What a little cry baby bitch that guy was. I can't think of a worse villain in a major movie.

Yup, yup.
