The response from the YouTube “critics” should prove that the Disney shills were wrong. While they do have some criticism about the movie, particularly its deviation from the source material (which the YouTube folks have intimate knowledge of) they generally like it. Make a good movie and they’ll critique it fairly.

I saw this last night in Portland at a Dolby Cinema. It was super fun and the best Marvel movie (that I've seen) in the last 3-4 years. Worth getting out to see.

Nah, he'll find some reason to trash it like he did Superman.
YOU DONT GET IT!!!!! This is about the integrity of a comic series (that he's never actually read) being ruined by a man who one time made pedo jokes!!! To accept such a change to the insanely important character of....checks notes.... Jor-El (that's already kind of been done over a decade ago) is like spitting on Siegel and pissing on Shuster!!!!

The turd to the eye was just icing.

Not long ago a MCU movie was a failure if it didn't sniff a billion.
I think it could get close.

The woke police? They’re probably biting through their tongue as they’re forced to say it’s not terrible. Those clowns want these movies to flop their lively hood depends on it.

It's not a bad movie. I didn't think it was anythign great, kind of boring and not a lot of action at all. Felt like the only real purpose this movie served was to introduce Franklin.
I liked Johnny but the rest of the characters were kinda meh, and they didn't really showcase their powers very much in this movie.
Again, it's not a bad movie and definitely worth watching, but there's nothing special about it that makes me say that was awesome and can't wait to watch it again. It's more of a "that was ok, but I am very much looking forward to the next one" type of movie.

I guess we're doing the spoilers in this thread?
SPOILERS AHEAD (just in case some aren't ready for it)
The origin with all the documentaries, like NASA pilots, I didn't care for. It was done well and it wasn't immersion-breaking, it's just that I didn't care for it in the context of how comic-accurate they went with so much other stuff. I would rather they were more comics-accurate with that since they went so hard to fit the comic book theme and feel.
The overall story and world were really well done. The idyllic 50s-60s with a touch of futurism vibe was exceptional. The Mole Man, mentions of other villains, etc. as a way of explaining to the viewer their accomplishments, the family dynamics and having Franklin as a key in the storyline all came together nicely and really separated this world from the other Marvel realities.
Galactus was done some maaaaaaaaajor fricking justice. The size, the motivation, the exposition... all were on point. His voice could have been a little deeper, but considering how well they did everything else that's like adding bacon to bacon. The margin of improvement you get from it is only in the personal preference aspect. Overall, they really nailed the hell out of him.
Aside from the casting choices, the only real issue I had with the movie was Sue being 7-8 months pregnant when they go up into space to go after Galactus (and then giving birth in space).
Let me say that again a little differently: woman in very late-term pregnancy is subjected to the physical stress of blasting off in a rocket to space. That, for me, was immersion-breaking.
Here's a better take:
-Reed and Sue are interviewed or have a conversation about not being able to conceive, Reed discusses his thoughts on it.
-Surfer arrives, they pursue.
-Galactus' scan reveals Sue's pregnancy, his offer is made. They refuse. He releases them, telling them he will be there once the child is born and they can reconsider then.
-They go back to Earth, the story proceeds. Also, we get the conversations between Reed and Sue about the child, Reed trying to determine anything about the child he can.
-Franklin is born, work on the transportation system completes, they test.
-Story proceeds from there as it did in the movie.
Sue vs Galactus... I get the "mama bear" thing and Galactus may be a little weak, but I would have liked to see a bit more effort from the rest of the team on that as well as maybe blood coming from her nose (maybe also leaking from an ear, eyes becoming bloodshot) as a stronger in-the-moment visual of how she was sacrificing herself.
All-in-all, this movie was a solid hit. Maybe not a home run, but at least a solid triple.

It's putting exact numbers as Superman, domestically and internationally. It's time to start lowering expectations on these films.

I saw it this afternoon and liked it. It’s not great but good. Better than most movies I have seen the last few years.

Thank you for that, really. Again, I outed myself as a non-comic reader. I’ve always just watched the movies tho as they interest me.
I never did a deep dive, I guess I should have, on how Galactus “devours” planets. My example was dogshit and exaggerated, but I guess I did always think he just kind of sucked them up through some sort of power.
Good to know, makes the movie even better now knowing he was scaled properly

Saw it tonight. Thought it was good, not great, but the best Marvel movie in a while. Pascal was better than I expected as Reed. Great to finally see an accurate representation of Galactus. Loved the retro-futuristic 60s vibe,
Did anyone else notice that the Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben from the Corman version all had cameos in this movie? Thought that was a nice touch.

Deadpool and Spider-Man still have mega hit juice.
I think the F4 are ok, but I just never saw them as mega hit material. X-Men will have serious potential when they come along.
We have to hope The Batman 2 is really good. We need them to go all in on it.

Brought my ten year old daughter to it because I was going see it solo to not be spoiled. Thought it was a perfect intro to bring new viewers into the mcu. She enjoyed the heck out of it and I’m super thankful for the magic baby to bring Sue back so I didn’t completely traumatize my girl .

I liked it a whole lot. Not everything but certainly a fun and well thought out movie. Loved the production design

Spider-Man and Doomsday will be massive. Idk if Deadpool will hit another billion as that movie had the return of a beloved actor. It was just a perfect storm.
For DC, a great sequel to The Batman would have a shot.

Same score as Superman. These movies are almost exact mirrors of each other.

Honest review: I hoped for more with the FF’s debut in the MCU. They do a great job of introducing the characters without spending too much time on origins.
The story starts off interesting but the end didn’t deliver for me. Like the Infinity Gauntlet, Galactus is nowhere near as powerful as he should be, but that would be hard to cover in two hours.
The casting was pretty good, even with Pascal, although this version of Reed Richards isn’t 100% on point. Thing finally looks like Thing, and the retro futurism works. Silver Surfer didn’t come across as woke, nor did the film.
Overall, a pretty basic storyline for an entrance of such huge characters. It was entertaining, but at the end I found myself thinking, “That’s it?” I had hoped for more of a tie in to the overall story arc like the MCU Infinity Saga had. No clear path forward for the characters.
ETA: Got over Radd not being in the film before going to see it and accepted that the film is in another universe. The comments on this version of Surfer taking away from Radd’s introduction in the future are on point.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Yes, it was a super simple (too simple I would agree) and there are some bad takes (you travel for month and in the press conference you tell the world Galactus wants your son…. Seriously dude) but overall I thought it was cool
