I will say that a lot of the movie felt montagey ( yeah I know not a word) which I’m not a fan of that. But it is just a simple basic Galactus is here to kill you all and we must stop him. Superman (you really have to compare them under the circumstances) had a lot of 4d chess going on by Lex so I did enjoy that more even though there was some choppiness about it at times.

I thought it was good. I had WAY more fun with Superman. Maybe this is a better technical movie idk. But Superman was just popcorn fun on a high high level. Both good though. See both.

Thank you for that, really. Again, I outed myself as a non-comic reader. I’ve always just watched the movies tho as they interest me.

Sorry, I was just joking with you. I grew up on this lore so it sometimes seems like everyone already knows this stuff. But I’m so glad you went and saw the film and I hope you’ll enjoy more. The comic films this summer give me hope that Marvel and DC might still have more in the tank after all.

I actually think I preferred this to Superman and I like DC properties way more than marvel properties genereally. I got CGI fatigue watching Superman. Really bad CGI fatigue.

This at least felt a little more grounded.

One thing about Galactus that many many not realize it that when he is at peak power (after consuming a planet), he's damn near invincible and could squash the FF quickly. That being said, his voracious appetite also weakens him if he's not consantaly fed. That's why he uses Herolds to find worlds for him rather than searching himself. His ship is also a source of energy for him and leaving that habitat drains him which explains in part why the FF in the movie was able to puit up a fight.

There is still a path to $125M, as we told you the movie has been pacing like James Gunn’s Superman. Yesterday’s first/day previews for Fantastic Four came in at $57M, which is $900K ahead of Superman‘s $56.1M, and the second highest opening day of 2025 to date behind A Minecraft Movie‘s $57.1M. Wouldn’t ya know — the MCU title also received an A- CinemaScore, the same as Superman. If the movie comes in under $125M, box office nerds, it’s not the end of the world or the demise of the superhero movie. As we always report, and this was true pre-Covid, predicting $100M+ openings given the small sampling isn’t a perfect science.

Definite recommend has upticked to 72% which is right around where Superman was at 74%. The Latino/Hispanic and Asian American moviegoer turnout was higher on First Steps than Superman respectively with (31% to 26%) and (11% to 9%). Black moviegoers turnout was even between both movies at 19%. Caucasian was bigger on Superman over Marvel’s first family, 41% to 34%.

Under 35 turnout on First Steps is 71% to Superman‘s 66%. Overall, again, very similar demos between the movies with Fantastic Four showing Men over 25 (40%) to Superman‘s 43%; Men under 25 at 29% to Superman‘s 25%, women over 25 at 20% to 19%, and women under 25 at 11% to 13%. Male to female split at 69%/31% is close to par with Gunn’s Man of Steel.

I think what they could’ve focused on instead of Sue not giving the baby up because “mama bear”, they could’ve focused on giving the baby up to a thing like Galactus would be stupid for many other reasons. Like giving a thing like that something he wants so badly because it has infinite power may not be the best decision. It’s a no brainer to not give the baby up, but not necessarily because it’s a member of their family.

I've never experienced it personally, but I'd imagine that rational goes out the window when a giant says he will end your whole planet unless this one thing happens.

I am in no way trusting some giant thing that consumes planets lol. And I’m definitely not giving him something that could make him more powerful. That’s not an option for me. But I understand.

Keep in mind too. He’s gonna go to another planet and kill more people. He’s gonna do that anyway. That was kind of the plot of the silver surfer in this one.

I enjoyed the movie. Had fun.

I've read about 3 pages of comments in this thread and found that the 99% of people who hate the movie have never seen it. They are trolls and ruin the board. I won't be back on this thread because of them (they can frick off).

Watch it or don't, I don't care. I just enjoyed a movie and wanted to hear what other people thought about it. But now I regret coming here. Have a good day.

I always worry media execs see this and think "We need to make this more feminine, to draw in more women"

When the only market growth opportunity for this film type is, ironically, men. If you go harder and cater more to young men, the numbers will get bigger, and the split will stay the same.

The only way to level the percentage is to reduce the number of men attending. The number of women won't increase. You'll get a more even split, but the movie will fail.

If you want a superhero film to succeed, give male fans what they want.

It isn't hard.

ETA: to those downvoting, I would like to hear your point of contention. I wasn't aware anything I typed was controvertible

Maybe the point of my post is being misunderstood.

Of course Sue and the family don’t want to give up the baby.

I just mean I was surprised they didn’t bring up the fact that trusting Galactus and giving him a powerful being may not be a good option. That’s all I’m saying. The rest of the world should understand that. I was just surprised they didn’t focus on that at all.

Just got out. I really enjoyed it. I know very little about the fantastic four comic book lore but I know people were pissed about the silver surfer but I enjoyed Julia Gardner as it. The main nitpick I have was Reed telling the world that galactus wanted their baby as soon as they got back.

Also, Vanessa Kirby acted her butt off in this film

Which is why I think the movie could’ve saved itself by talking about those points I made. Instead it put itself in this position.

Someone school me on the backstory of Galactus and his "hunger". Also, what does the baby Franklin become in the comics?

They didn't know he was a powerful being until the ending.
