Everything is Illuminated

Quirky, comedic, but meaningful.

Incendies. It's Dennis V's first film I believe. Be prepared though, it's pretty brutal

I'm shocked that 8 people (so far) have downvoted this. Tells me a lot about the lack of taste in movies on this board.

Wrist cutters. Patrick Fugit and Tom Waites in suicidal purgatory.

I would assume the downvotes are likely because more than 10% have seen the movie. Could be wrong though.

not a movie but a series that is beautifully shot, excellent cast, and very well written based on the book by James Herriot - it has become our family favorite. I truly cannot recommend this highly enough.

I just watched that one the other day on YouTube. I remember seeing it about twenty years ago, too. Jack Lemmon and James Garner made an excellent duo.

This movie is good? Looked promising but after that dog shite show on HBO I just didn’t want to invest any time into it

I enjoyed it. It's an interesting psychological thriller. Jenna Ortega is very good in it. It helps to be a fan of The Weeknd because the movie is a companion piece to his latest album.

I love that movie and I'll add Jayne Mansfield's Car in the Billy Bob Thornton southern gothic vein

Looks great and you know it's obscure when your're watching Unseen Trailers.

Great thread. I'm adding several of these recs to my list. Some I've heard of, some I haven't.
