I still have those two hours. They got me on the first one, but not after that.

tried to pay too much lip service to the abomination that was TLJ.

Bad take. In fact, it went out of its way to slay TLJ. Rose was sidelined, respect the lightsaber, etc.

Yes, it has tremendous issues as a movie in and of itself. It pretty much treats TLJ as never existing, which means it has to be the second and third part of the trilogy - filling 5 or so hours of movie into 2 hours 20 minutes. Every scene in the first 2/3 of the movie is:
rushed problem walks into immediate solution. "I need on that ship" "I happen to have a special coin thats probably ultra rare than can get you on it.", etc.

It had tremendous issues as a part of the Star Wars universe. I won't even get into the issues as they are too numerous to count.

It was left buried 30 feet in $#!t by TLJ, and they managed to dig themselves up to only 10 feet deep.

I personally don't believe it was as bad as others mainly due to understanding the horrible position it was left in by TLJ.

isney fricked up and could have made so much more if they would kick Kennedy in the count and let someone else take over.

Agreed. Kennedy should have been canned long ago. The fact that she's still there speaks volumes about how Disney continues to screw this up.

If you ignore the lore and watch it on its own it can be fun. If you think about the rest of the movies it’s severely lacking.

It's better than TLJ, but still makes the Star Wars universe worse.

This. Lots of space ghosts, then Rey becomes Space Jesus, and they have space indians with space bows and arrows. The three movies pull against each other so much they are actually worse as a group.

It’s got plenty of bad parts, namely the ending

But it’s not nearly as bad as The Last Jedi

It’s worth your time to welch on a ban bet that you freely and ignorantly made though.

I remember thinking it was alright in the theaters, but watched it again recently and it's garbage.

I watched it and all I really felt at the end was a big sigh of relief that it was finally over and I could move on.

I liked it, I don't get all the hate. They are never going to be able to recreate the magic of the original trilogy, but that does't make the other movies bad. TLJ drags and I can understand the criticism there, but the rest of the movies are fine. I still didn't mind TLJ, just wasn't the best.
The hate is because the Star Wars franchise was hugely loved by it's fans, and had some iconic characters that people cared about.

This sequel trilogy, even the JJ parts, systematically and intentionally tears it all down. Han, Luke; character assassination and then kills them off. Leia- laughably bad. Rebellion, Jedi etc- pointless. The Skywalker lineage- again, pointless.

It's weird, I noticed Disney+ is now pushing Malecifent on it's service. This, like the Star Wars treatment, is oddly and intentionally in opposition to the original story. Malecifent was one of the most evil characters onscreen, and Disney has chosen to glorify her. It's like they're trying to condition us to reject traditional values.

Definitely better than TLJ.

It did its best to salvage what TLJ left behind. Because of that, it feels as if it's trying to cram two movies worth of plot into one film.

If some of these plot elements had a bit more room to breathe, people might've responded more positively.

I enjoyed it. Take it for what it is.

Now, you’ll likely notice JJ blatantly going “yeah, we get it. Our bad” so much so that they forgot to create a coherent plot.

My take: JJ had an outline and a plan. FA set it up perfectly. Then Rian and Kathleen decided to make a SJW statement and Rian literally threw it out the window with Luke tossing away the saber in TLJs opening.

What were they going to do? Everything they set up in the first movie was undone in the second. And the second left really nothing to answer. Compounded by this was Kathleen publicly shitting on the fan base.

So JJ made an apology movie. And it wasn’t very good. It had to create a backstory and resolve it in 2 hrs. Normally you’d have two movies previously to do that.

Favreau needs to take over creative direction and they just need to move on. It’s an endless universe.

Am I right for always reading this in The Emperor's voice?

JJ(and Disney) deserves just as much blame as Rian Johnson. Such a huge developed world and so many opportunities for new compelling stories and we get a lame copycat of A New Hope. The reality is that there isnt much creativity amongst anyone on the Disney Lucasfilm team, hence why we got a copycat movie and two movies that seemed like they were written by a 10 year old.

Disney thought they had a surefire product that they could halfass through and plant in their preferred social programming and still make money hand over fist. A good story was wayyyyyy down the priority list.

It took a lot of work to really mess up a franchise, but KK and friends certainly did it. Our only hopes are Favreau and Filoni.

If the prequels didn't kill Star Wars, this new shitrilogy won't either.

That’s actually how I initially felt about TLJ. It was entertaining in its own right but not a great Star Wars movie. As time goes on and I’ve seen TLJ a couple more times, I’ve come to simply dislike it.

I wasn’t very excited about ROS so never watched it until today. I didn’t sit through the whole thing. Played on my phone and did a few things around the house while it was on. Just not interesting.

I was a Star Wars superfan as a kid, did the whole prequels opening night thing (despite them being just "okay"), even was a Star Wars adult collector, but this franchise killed the series for me. It murdered my childhood excitement so thoroughly that I look at the stuff I've collected and no longer have any connection to it.

So good job, Disney! I'm free!
