Just watched Blow Out with John Travolta. This is a very underrated film. I’m a sucker for the seedy, urban depictions of decades ago.

Taxi Driver
Dirty Harry movies
Mean Streets
No Mercy
Tightrope
The Taking of Pelham 123

I could go on…and I could watch these all day.

What are y’all’s favorites?

It's a pretty loose term, but Neo-Noir rocks too.

I'm a sucker for the classics like Lady from Shanghai, Ride the Pink Horse, anything noir with Mitchum etc.

I prefer Blow Up to Blow Out.

The original is one of the coolest opening title scenes ever.

Some newbie watches that...and says, oh this must be the 70s (if they're even that aware.)

It lets you know you spent your money wisely. This movie is going to be bad arse.

Rafifi
A Touch Of Evil
The Night Of The Hunter
Strangers On A Train
Detour (this one or Rafifi the best of all time and both made for nothing)
Blood Simple/Fargo
White Heat
The Grifters
Blue Velvet/Wild At Heart
The Killing
Miller's Crossing

Not sure if Hitchock's stuff qualifies but if it does, Notorious, Spellbound, and North By Northwest should get a mention.

Double Indemnity and The Postman Always Rings Twice are all-time co-champions.

Surprised how long to took for someone to bring up Chinatown which is maybe the best Neo-noir there is.

One of my favs. Carl Franklin is an underrated director. Another good one with him and Denzel is Out of Time.
