They tied up so many loose ends that I don't know where they take the show now
Rothstein's downfall?
Lucky and Meyer's rise to power?
just going off historical events

Harrow was even more epic than I thought it would be
I kept waiting for Harrow in this episode. Talk about worth the wait. Great, great scene with a fantastic final pop of the hostage taker. Harrow's use of the sniper rifle at close range was the cherry on top.

I guess that's what I'm getting at. I have no idea where they go now.
I think Nuck is going to get the Distillery up and running, and hopefully involve Chicago a little more. Nuck has been a bit of a smalltime/regional character up to this point, but if he successfully gets the distillery rocking and rolling he'll be a kingpin.
Gyp didn't even exist before this season did he? I'm sure they'll have no trouble coming up with new storylines.

No kidding. With the amount of factual characters still in play the storylines are endless. It's actually refreshing that so many loose ends were tied up with this finale.
I can now say Season 3 has been my favorite thus far. And I was a big fan of Michael Pitt's character the first two seasons.

I'd also like to know how or what kind of deal Nucky made with Gyps guy? Was it just as easy as "it's either you or him?".
I'm pretty sure that the guy Nucky got to kill Roseti was the guy hiding in the closet when he and Eli walked into Gillian's whorehouse after richard cleaned house. I imagine he let the guy live as long as he delivered Rosetti. As far as why the other guys just let him kill Rosetti....he was dead to Masseria so they werent about to get killed standing up for him.

Nucky fricking Rothstein over really irks me
Me too. I really like Rothstein's character. However, I think his character will be sacrificed for the upcoming expansion of the roles of Meyer Lansky, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Seigel.

Incredible finale. Very surprised to see anyone criticizing it.
I believe if you combine s3ep11 & s3ep12 together they can go toe to toe with any mafia movie out there. Cannot wait to go watch these last 2 episodes over again.
Such an awesome show. Especially love/appreciate all the historical characters (and the fact that they stay pretty close to what these guys truly were, did, etc).
Already craving season 4!

Rothstein made his own bed with Nucky when he not only refused to help Nucky with the war, but also convinced everyone else to avoid it as well.

What was the deal Eli made with Cappone? It seemed like all of these deals had to do with the Overholt distillery, but now it is 99% Rothstein's and will soon be confiscated by the feds. What does Nucky have left? Unless, does AR going down somehow lead Nucky into being able to run the distillery?

Not sure what the deal with Capone was - I think that is going to play out in season 4.
About the distillery - what Nucky did was a stroke of genius.
1) He makes the deal with AR to give him 99% ownership
2) He then rats out AR to Mellon and the feds.
3) The feds (Mellon) get a chance to catch another major player in AR (remember they apprehended George Remus).
4) The distillery goes back to Mellon's ownership.
5) Nucky then takes over the distillery again per he and Mellon's original agreement - only this time with Gyp gone, Masseria pulled back and AR completely out the way.

Were these gang wars that just happened in this episdoe all fiction, loosely based on historical events or pretty historically accurate? And what year are we in? 1922?

I love Harrow, easily my favorite character on the show . . ., but, . . . shouldn't the missing eye affect his depth perception and thus his marksmanship?

This. Nuck played AR like a fiddle.

On Nucky screwing over Rothstein:
Rothstein turned his back on Nucky. Others followed his lead. This decision nearly got Nucky, his family, and all his close companions murdered. I'd say he has plenty of reason to frick over AR.
On Gyp's death:
Are people disappointed that it wasn't brutal enough? Or that Nucky didn't do it? If that's the former, I assure you getting stabbed in the back and stomach by a long arse blade would be a horribly painful way to die. If it's the latter, it appears this is Nucky's first move to "stay back and out of harm's way". Just fits right in to his new stance on dealing with any and everyone.

I"m not saying his death wasn't brutal but it was a little anticlimactic for me. Still a great character and a great episode.

What was the point of Capone and Chalky killing Masseria's men if they were already pulling back to New York?
Diminish Masseria's manpower. Take out 31 of his muscle and it effectively cripples him from retaliating against Nucky anytime soon.

Not to mention losing that much muscle will make him take Nucky seriously and make him unlikely to screw with Nucky anymore, particularly after Gyp's right hand man delivers Gyp's dead body to him with the message.
