Beauty and the Beast is a tragedy and Gaston is a hero

Gaston did nothing wrong but court, and try to woo a girl who ended up being a psychotic furry who fell in love with an animal and tried to save the girl after her poor deranged father informed him that she was being held prisoner in a demonic castle controlled by witch magic. He only ever wanted what was best for belle and the rest of the townsfolk.
He was a disciplined hunter and most likely soldier who turned down advances from every other girl in pursuit of belle. His only fault was falling in love with a Heartless wench.

For starters, he threatened to have her father committed unless she agreed to marry him?

Was a douchebag. Could have had Belle, but chose to be a douchebag instead.

If the same exact movie was made in 2025, this board would have had a field day.
Instead, it was made in 1991 and this board is obsessed with nostalgia, so it's fine.

Which is terrible because the father vouched for Gaston in the beginning and Belle said he "wasn't for her",
Gaston is the best Disney prince.

The actual prince is the biggest G ever. Talk about not putting pussy on a pedostal
He made Belle his literal prison bitch and she still loved him and wanted to do anything for him
Talk about embarrassing for beta Gaston

You're not a disney princess unless you're an entitled ungrateful wench who wants to do the exact opposite of what's expected from the people that gave you everything. Looking at you, Ariel and Jasmine.

Well the dumbass couldn't hit shite with his blunderbuss

Just a watered down Brahm Bones-Bing Crosby redux

This is my favorite Gaston moment.

Disney has always been woke. They had a movie about Muslims in the 90s too

A blunderbuss is a short range weapon duh

In the original it’s pretty clear she was just into furries before it was a thing.

No, not at all.. I've seen a lot of discussions regarding mislabeled villains/heros and the only convincing one this far has been Jenny from Forrest Gump... That bitch there was a straight up the villain

Truths that many refuse to accept, yet they're still true.
Gaston was the hero.
Johnny was the good guy in Karate Kid
Jenny is the worst.
Thanos didn't go far enough.

He only went after the beast after Belle was already “released”. He tried to force himself on her a few times, and as others pointed out he tried to blackmail her to get with him with the threat of locking her dad up. Ironically, they were locking him up for believing in the beast.

who told him no and the. he continued to pursue while demeaning her interest and paying a man to kidnap her father.
Just normal hero stuff
