They were spending a quarter of a billion and the actors were pretty inconsequential, you can kinda cut some corners. Wiki says they offered it to Matt Damon for a 10% stake in the profits and he stuck with the Bourne series but he didn't do another Bourne movie for a decade. That's a bad beat for him.

Fiscally, yes, but would Avatar and Terminator Salvation (I’m sure both were lumped in) really worth it as a career move? Honestly I don’t think so. He’d be known as that guy who wrote Good Will Hunting and then whored himself out. Yeah he’d have more money but he’s almost worth 200 million dollars. With his career choices, I don’t think he’s done all that bad with Stuck On You, We Bought a Zoo, and Downsizing as his low points.

Tobey McGuire.

Dude was an A-lister on par with Leo, Pitt, Clooney and Damon, then he sold/cashed out for Spider Man sequel money and became a douchebag underground poker player.

That Chinese Great Wall movie was solely for the money and way more of a sell out than Avatar.

That’s the one I was forgetting when making the post and then thought “Well, 3 is good enough.” But the fact is that movie is forgotten. It really is. Avatar is not and really just seen as overrated.

Seems like this guy was in every big movie one year, then his career cooled. Apologies if he’s on some big series I’m not watching.

Mickey Rourke did himself no favors by getting in to boxing. He had leading man looks and messed up his face.

9 1/2 Weeks is a cult classic. Angel Heart was another good one when he had his looks.

James Dale Badge. He was in 24 Season 3. Then he was basically the main character for the first half of The Pacific miniseries (2010).

I like him as an actor. He just can’t find the right role to shine.

8 is Enough, The Outsiders, The Karate Kid, don't see him for half dozen years then My Cousin Vinny.
Twenty years later he is playing himself on Entourage.

That one makes sense. Total bitch and always bit the hand that fed her. She absolutely deserved it. Heigl even by Hollywood standards is just awful on a working level.

Yeah but then he had Blade in 1997. So I can’t include him in this.
