Actors that started their career in a role that ended up being out of their character...

Actors that started their career or gained notoriety for a role that ended up being out of their character and career path...
I think really obvious examples would be:
Henry Winkler - The Fonz of course is how he was known initially. He's now IMO one of the best character actors ever. (Character actors was in my mind when I started thinking this).
Matthew Broderick - He hit real stardom with Ferris Bueller, but his personality and career are anything but Ferris Bueller.
Who did you think fits this category?

Ehh Cooper’s character in the Hangover has strong Sack vibes. Basically if Sack was your friend. Rocket has some Sack/a-hole vibes too. Never player another outright villain but he definitely went to that well again.
