So is this going to be a spoilers thread? I kinda got the impression he knew those folks and called that out to my wife, but I'd prefer to watch the show like a Hodor. Is this not the thread to follow?
And thanks Belle, you da real MVP!

Just watched E2, and wow, that was a great episode. You’re spot on, that is quality work.

The books are very good.
Are they books or comic books? I thought I was buying a book, but it was a comic.

They are novellas - part of anthology books. It’s an easy google.
There is also a comic adaptation. Just like GOT has a comic adaptation.

Which kingdom are they in right now? The Riverlands?
I haven't heard the Tullys mentioned.

Bc its HBO and they cant give straight men a show without injecting weird sexual shite.

I thought that detail might come into play later in the episode, possibly when Dunk was trying to get people to remember Ser Arlen. However, it turned out to be just a random, cartoonish dong with no purpose.
HBO can't help itself.

They’re in the Reach (Southern part of Westeros). Ashford Meadows, where the tourney is held, is across the river from Ashford (middle of the map below).
We did see a Tully shield during the jousting they did in the episode (fish over water). But I’m not sure which Tully it was right off hand. Since there are several highborn competitors, it could’ve been Lord Medgar Tully (head of the Tully house at the time of the tourney).

Couldn't the purpose have been to show that Dunk was an unreliable narrator that painted Ser Arlan in an unrealistic light, which came into play later with the breaking 7 lances vs the actual 4?
Tales grow taller with the telling and slongs grow longer.

Id agree with you if it was an actual dick instead of a cartoonishly huge prosthetic. Fake dicks are funny*

How is it not obvious that legends grow in the telling? Dunk remembers Ser Arlan as 'larger than life' at this pt in the show. Every tale is an exaggeration.

not a book reader so I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I did get the impression that egg got a good close up look at what the squires have to be able to do during the jousts to support the knights, and wondered how in the hell he was going to be able to do all that. Not only is it ultraviolent, it requires considerable physical strength
Hell I was wondering how he will be able to do it
Speaking of, the jousting scenes fricking ruled.
I had read that preview viewers were saying that the jousting was the most realistic ever depicted, and damn, did that not deliver in spades.

It did. 7 lances vs 4 was the hint.

just listened to a recap pod and they 100% said that's what it was. It was to show that Dunks impression of Arlan was exaggerated. I never even thought about it but it makes sense with them making it so ridiculous

For all the filler bs they put in shows like The Last of Us and other adaptations, they couldn’t add 20 more minutes to each episode to give us more of this universe? Absolute trash.
So instead of keeping it a great/quality show you want to make it trash bs like The Last of Us just so it can be 20 minutes longer? What a retarded arse take man.

For all of the complaints that straight, white men are emasculated in these shows, I thought y’all would appreciate they gave the guy an absolute lance.
Never change.

Video from the joust scene. Definitely a Tully (my guess is Lord Tully). We see Lyonel Baratheon with the stag helm (pretty cool).
The guy who hops on the horse and picks the shield off the ground might be Ser
Humfrey Hardyng (from the Vale). His sigil was checkerboarded.

quote:yes but definitely not something you’d want to try out for real if you’re not highly skilled. Has Duncan ever done this before? Has Egg? Duncan obviously looks like he can whip some arse hand to hand but are we to anticipate that he also is an experienced jouster? If so, how did he get that experience? Are there jousting schools? And why would Arlan care to teach Duncan how to joust?
Speaking of, the jousting scenes fricking ruled
Duncan’s solution to his own place in the world is to go win a tournament, but has he even ever competed in tournament?
