Why did San Francisco draft a QB at #3 if they weren't going to use him right away?

These guys traded all the way up to get him. That just feels like a tremendous waste of money having a guy ride the bench like that.

Jimmy G isn't exactly a player anyone trusts will last the season. It appears they'll let him walk and hand over the keys to Lance next season.

Imagine thinking it's a sane thing to throw an FCS QB who hadn't played since 2019 to the NFL wolves like that when there's a servicable option on the roster already.

Because Trey Lance sucks and he should have never been drafted that high. He came from the Alabama of FCS, where their teams has a tremendous amount of talent compared to most teams.
They also drafted him because when Mac Jones' name was floated as a possible pick at #3, Twitter bots went insane because he wasn't black. Yes, that actually happened, but hardly anyone remembers it now.
So, San Fran drafted a black QB who will never be worth a shite at all in the NFL. Makes sense...
