Do you really think Shanahan gives a shite about public pressure?

If anything he’s the type to double down.

These guys traded all the way up to get him. That just feels like a tremendous waste of money having a guy ride the bench like that.

they are trying to compensate for the huge mistake of trading for jimmy, who never showed anyone he was a capable starting QB but because he played for Belicheck everyone thought he was the next brady.

people downvoted me at the time for saying he hasnt shown anything to justify the hype around him and i was right again as usual. people dont like to hear the truth or rational opinions based on facts but you cant just hope and guess based on a guy who only started two or three games when it comes to getting him in a costly trade as your new starting QB

Trey Lance has been hurt..

I watched his first start. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn throwing so they ran him up the middle nearly 20 times. Jimmy G is just so much better at this point that giving up so much to get Lance feels questionable.

a costly trade
A truly terrible franchise-altering mistake. A 2nd round pick for a starter who's gone 31-13? A total disaster.

They clearly didn't downvote you enough.

As the story goes, he traded up for Mac but the public pressure got those above him to decide on Lance

Chris Simms said he wanted Mac Jones. So he definitely wanted Mac Jones.

You mean why are they being smart with their raw QB?

Sitting used to be the norm, very recent thing for these guys to play right away

Yeah, its pretty funny that people were totally comfortable sitting rookie QBs back when they signed contracts that made them one of the highest paid players on the team.

They wanted a young long term QB who could add a run game element.

They’ve said from the beginning they want to develop Lance. It’s not complicated. Jimmy G has played well the last 7 or so games, no reason to rush an FCS QB that has started only 12 games. The kid has the highest ceiling of any of the 2021 QBs . If he remained in college one more year he would have likely gone 1.01 this year.

Same people reporting that story also said with 100 % certainty SF was taking Mac. It doesn’t pass the smell test. Why spend three 1sts on a guy who doesn’t add anything new to your offense except durability? Almost like the media was wrong.

Why did the chiefs draft Mahomes in at 10 if they weren’t going to use him right away??

There’s a huge difference between 3 and 10 in the draft and even more so for QBs. Nobody trades away pics to a twelve and two future first rounders for a 10th overall. If you are going to trade away three first round pics the y needs to be able to make an immediate impact, not sit behind Jimmy G.

Shanahan has a contract that allows him to look beyond one year.
