The 49ers interest in Mac during the pre draft process was to get pats to trade up because Mac was their guy or possibly trade JG. The 49ers always wanted Lance and when the chess match became a stalemate because BB is a wizard they had to go get Lance at 3. Lance is learning how to be a pro behind JG, which makes sense because he is the highest drafted qb with the least amount off attempted throws in college ever. Furthermore, Shanny has already messed one of these situations up with RG3 and learned from his mistake. 49ers are making the playoffs and looking like they might peak at the right time with players coming off injuries. JG could also be traded for a first rounder to teams like the Saints, Pitt, or any other team that doesn’t have a clear cut starter this off season. Putting Lance in to ruin his confidence and destabilize the franchise is idiotic.

I didn't think about JG going to the Steelers. I wouldn't be mad.

Lance should be playing if he is as good as advertised. He is not that is why he is on scout team. He is and will be a bust.
Justin Fields will be serviceable but not get the bears to a super bowl.

These guys traded all the way up to get him. That just feels like a tremendous waste of money having a guy ride the bench like that.

I know it's hard to understand in today's instant gratification/I want it now society, but there is this thing called development. Not that long ago it was unheard of to throw a rookie QB in the fray during year 1.

The Twitter freak-out about Mac Jones really did happen. San Fran is the peak of woke culture

I don't doubt that some people didn't want to draft him, what I want to see proof of is a tie to him being white and those people wanting the team to draft a black guy.

For example, I hated the Packers draft pick of Jordan Love. But I didn't hate it because he's black. I hated it because I don't think he's very good and it was the last position we needed to be wasting a first rounder given Rodgers was playing out of his mind and we needed help elsewhere. Has nothing to do with race.

Ruin his confidence?? What about joe burrow, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Jets QB, and I will throw Fields in this conversation. They are playing, taking their lumps, throwing interceptions, getting sacked!! I left off Mack Jones, add him also. What about their confidence?
SanFransisco gave up a lot of capitol for this guy, and you are saying he is too weak minded to be playing? I believe San Francisco knows he will not live up to this pick, and they will not admit it. If I was Jimmy G, I would ask for a trade, go where he is the man

Look up how many pass attempts Herbert, Burrow, Fields and Tlaw have in comparison to Lance. Now consider Lance is all FCS. Context is everything my friend.

1. They didn't take a year off between their last college year and first NFL year. 2. They didn't play in FCS. 3. They were either superior to or close enough to the bad incumbent starter that they might as well take the first team reps.

If you don't recognize that the hiatus alone is sufficient reason to not rush a QB out there particularly when there's already a better Day 1 option on the team (who's already taken his team to the Super Bowl) you're beyond redemption.

I'm saying there is no fairy tale outcome for the 21-22 Niners in throwing a QB who took 2020 off to the wolves when the rest of the team is more than capable of a deep run and he can be eased into things. I don't know why this is such a challenging concept to grasp, but pulling for you to get it.

I don't think you're particularly in tune with the Niners thinking if you genuinely thought someone so raw was going to supplant Garoppolo in a single offseason after not playing the year before.

He will have one year left on his contract after this year and the Niners will happily oblige him.
