Kelly should get SEC

Yea, no. COY's don't choke at A&M.

Eh, I’d say Beamer or Huepal for SEC

Because the national coach of the year doesn't lose to an inferior opponent by double digits to end their CFP hopes.

UConn is 6-6 and OP has Jim Mora's name up there.

Give it to Dykes, but Mora, Kirby, Riley, they don't belong in the discussion any more than Kelly does.

Fritz at Tulane.

From 2-10 last year to now 10-2 and still possibly a NY6 Bowl birth.

Dykes at TCU.

The fact that y’all don’t even have CBK in the discussion is a shame.

While LSU has exceeded expectations, the fact is they’re able to recruit (and buy) a shitton more talent than a program like TCU.

Kelly has done a good job, but there’s other coaches doing some really good things this year which much less talent on their roster.

TCU, Tennessee and Tulane are three.

Basically, what y’all are saying is that unless you win it all, and go undefeated, you don’t deserve to be ‘coach of the year’. Why not just hand that award to whichever coach wins the playoffs?

Expectations for LSU were 7-5 or 8-4. You are saying if you outperform expectations by one or two wins you should be the coach of the year? Consideration, yes, but he has not done what Dykes has done.

Heupel had essentially the same season as Kelly (except he won a big one on the road) and you are fine with nobody mentioning him. Why?

As an LSU fan, I loved the hire of Kelly and he’s exceeded my expectations this year, I love the direction of the program and I’m very excited about the future. but taking a team from 6-6 to 9-3 is not COTY stuff usually, winning the West is nice but it’s circumstantial when you’re 6-2

What? He finished 9-3 at LSU. LSU will always have a ton of talent and this year was no exception. Plus they won the West when it was probably the worst it has been in a long time.

I said on page 1 Kelly isn’t COTY, but some of you are really selling the job he did this year short. LSU was depleted when he took the program over and he scrambled to fill out a roster that really still isn’t complete.

The job he did this year to get LSU to atlanta is extremely impressive.

It's Smart. How is this even a topic? I realize LSU needs to get past having their punchline nemesis totally out play this team of destiny, an unranked opponent away from playoffs but good gosh.

Y’all are coming at me like I said Kelly should win the award

He shouldn’t, not even close. I’m just saying he’s done a hell of a job and deserves to be in the conversation

I think Fritz should win it. Winning at Tulane is a lot harder than winning at a lot of places including TCU. Mainly because they don’t make much of an exception when it comes to academically qualifying kids
