You keep repeating how petty and fickle the internet is while being the only one showing homerism towards Kelly. Why would the final week of the season not be factored into a coach of the year discussion
Again, he’s done a great job but there are others more deserving. Not sure how else to explain it

Just a week or so ago almost EVERYONE on this board was convinced he was a shoe-in
You sure about that?

One bad week erases everything he’s done in less than a years time?
But wasn't his season basically judged off 2 games (Bama,OM) before last week?
And also came unbelievably close to being 7-5 this year

That was a BAAADDDD loss

Sonny Dykes.
this is the correct answer.

I’d say Dykes or Fritz.
Dykes hit the portal hard and had more talent to work with than Fritz. If Tulane wins the AAC championship I'd go with Fritz.

I never once said that he deserved to win it, but it’s hard to argue against the job he’s done turning around that program in just one year.
He at least deserves to be mentioned, I don’t think the A&M game should eliminate him from contention. That was my only point

Brian Kelly hit the portal even harder.

Dykes and when he goes 5-7 in 2024, he will be on the hot seat

Who should be the coach of the year in CFB?
1. Sonny Dykes
2. Lincoln Riley
3. Brian Kelly
4. Jim Mora

The heavyset guy at Illinois has done a good job but maybe not good enough for Coach of the year.

TCU in Playoffs = Dykes COY.

Not Riley. Just my opinion but when you raid your previous program and bring in a ton of transfers you had an easier path.
Uh...that's coaching.
Those were players he recruited.
And he got the Biletnikoff Award winner to come to SC. 80% of CFB coaching is getting the horses...look at Saban...he has the players. He's not Bill Belichick on gameday. CFB is about out-talenting.
I don't why people like to separate 80% of the job and call coach of the year from 20% of the job.
And getting all those transfers who want to star and get playing time to mesh and from all reports have become a really close bonded unit...well, that's coaching.

That’s not coaching. That’s poaching and he wouldn’t have near the success as he would without poaching Williams.

He didn’t recruit Addison. He straight up bought him.

Saban brought in 3-5. Riley brought in 15+

well, that's coaching.
Nope, that’s poaching. And I originally said it was my opinion that I would give it to the guys who didn’t just brought in a bunch of new guys but one who improved the guys already there for the most part.

Kirby Smart
He won't win the national coaching awards, but losing 15 players to the draft and another 13 to the portal, and then still going out and completing only the 3rd back to back 8-0 SEC season in league history is something to talk about.
Also the first time UGA has gone 12-0 back to back, and the defense is only 1 point off of the PPG put up by the GOAT Georgia Defense of '21.
Nationally, Sonny should get it. But Kirby deserves SEC coach of the year.

Kelly should get SEC
COY… national should be dykes no doubt.
