Sonny Dykes easily. I considered TCU a dead program for several years

Not Riley. Just my opinion but when you raid your previous program and bring in a ton of transfers you had an easier path.

I’d say Dykes or Fritz.

They won’t win it, but I’ll throw out Jim Mora, Lance Leipold, and Jerry Kill.

None of these 3 teams were projected to get close to bowl games, and they all might get there (NMSU needs a waiver or a 6th win).

Dykes. Should be unanimous.

The internet, and this place specifically, is SO reactionary

The fact that y’all don’t even have CBK in the discussion is a shame.

Dykes will and should win but two more to add to the mix are DeBoer and Jonathan Smith. Both great coaching jobs.

Dykes
Harbaw.

If South Carolina hadn’t gotten drummed against Fla and shite the bed against Mizzou a case could probably be made for Beamer to be in the discussion.

Because coaches of the year don’t lose to A&M with the playoffs potentially on the line. He’s done an incredible job and overachieved but he doesn’t need to be in the conversation

Because the national coach of the year doesn't lose to an inferior opponent by double digits to end their CFP hopes.

Just a week or so ago almost EVERYONE on this board was convinced he was a shoe-in

One bad week erases everything he’s done in less than a years time?

Doesn’t make sense to me. Clearly there are other (maybe even better) candidates, but to erase him from contention is fricking stupid. They won the SEC west, beat bama, and have a shot at an outright SEC title when before the season, people completely wrote them off and predicted a sub 6 win season

The internet is a stupid, fickle place

Basically, what y’all are saying is that unless you win it all, and go undefeated, you don’t deserve to be ‘coach of the year’. Why not just hand that award to whichever coach wins the playoffs?

Bro, I love Brian Kelly and think he’s gonna do HUGE THINGS at LSU once his culture is fully in place. He’s had an amazing year and should be in the running for SEC coach of the year:

BUT

Dykes is about to take TCU to the playoffs, a program many thought dead after Patterson. And he’s undefeated. He’s earned it

A little more awareness....please.

Kelly is going to do great things but he dropped out of the discussion before this thread started.

Give it to Dykes.
