Before they had a team? Genuine question, not trolling.

They masturbated to Barry Switzer pictures with no shirt on.

Mostly Mavs fans from my experience growing up here. But tbh basketball was waaaay behind football and baseball in popularity in Oklahoma before the Thunder came along. I still wish we'd have gotten an NHL team. Maybe some day.

Pre-Bulls MJ I enjoyed many teams did not have a fave.
Became Bulls fan from just prior to MJ and stayed all through his years even his baseball ones. Once he retired I just rooted for many teams. Which was interesting because I found some good games not having a rooting interest.
When we got the loaner New Orleans team I started rooting for them and did so until we got our own team. Then OKC since the start.
We had Carlesimo and he went 1-12 and Thunder fired him and promoted Brooks. Never liked Brooks he rode coattails of great players and was a very absent coach. OKC waited 1 year too long to fire him.

Never really closely followed anyone but I always liked the Dirk/Nash/Finley Mavs.
After that it was all in on NOLA/OKC Hornets and then Thunder. Those Hornets games were fun af.

Wild times with them playing in OKC and I believe in BR as well, IIRC and the Saints playing in BR.
Shout out to David West. He was/is one of my favorite Hornets/Pels.

The year Mavs knocked OKC out I rooted for Dirk and was happy to see him win a title

I always used the pictures of the Boz, but to each his own.
Oklahomas didn’t give a shite about the NBA until the Hornets spent the season there. It was the hottest ticket in town and has maintained that same popularity for the last 20 years.

Damn. You just have a knack for rooting for various championship teams. Chicago. Dallas. OKC. What a blessed fan.

Personally, I didn't follow basketball at all. Grew up a hockey and football fan. The Thunder turned me into a basketball fan.
I will say, the Thunder completely killed hockey in OKC. Did everything they could to eliminate the AHL team across the street. They gave their G-league team prime weekend dates over the hockey team. I think the Blue basketball team pulled about 200 fans a game. Ridiculous.
In OKC, you pretty much have to be a basketball fan since they pretty much own the city at this point.
They also did a great job of hurting the local film scene by tearing down Prairie Surf Studios (future location of the new arena). They were shooting some fantastic projects in OKC like Tulsa King, Twisters, Stillwater, and a few others but that's pretty much stopped and shifted to the Tulsa area.

Thank God I wasn’t born in Oklahoma

Are you retarded, brother? OKC has no bandwagon fans. We’re a small fish in a large pond where no one likes us. We were almost universally hated as soon as we got a modicum of success.
Yall just make up the same shite whenever there’s a dominant team in any league. “Rely on the refs, cheaters, dirty, bandwagon fans, their star gets propped up by their role players, their role players actually suck”

They sound horrible for the city. Should move them back to Seattle.

Not the Thunder. DEAD LAST in the NBA in attendance just a couple of seasons ago.

Your reading comprehension is bad. I rooted for MJ/Bulls and OKC (New Orleans loaner team too). Those are the teams I was a fan of.
The Mavs took out OKC and I liked Dirk as a player so rooted for him to win a title that same year. Was not a Mavs fan though.
You are one of those rigid stiffs who takes your ball home after a loss and has no idea how to root for another team when yours is done.
I also root for every football team to beat texas too, I guess thats bad in your eyes.

It is interesting how the Thunder are seemingly so disliked since this team and Sam Presti have put together a masterclass on how a small-market team can build a franchise through the draft and trades. It's been fascinating to observe.
It might be partially due to their teams having inept front offenses making terrible trades with Presti.

Keyboard Warrior saying stuff they would not say in person. Typical internet. Most people hate Shai and his playing style. OKC has no bandwagon fans because they are winning. Literally, your resident Superfan said he rooted for the Bulls and Mavs before OKC was good. I went to an OKC game in 2021, and there were more Warrior fans than OKC fans. But OKC has no bandwagon fans, sure.
Oklahoma City fans think they're some special group, but in reality, they're no different from any other fanbase.
