He shouldn’t be but he will. Plenty of unworthy QBs drafted in the first round through the years. He has the arm talent and the NFL is all about “potential”. His problem is consistency but given the raw talent I’m sure there are plenty of teams that think they can fix it for sure

I said in my first post I don’t expect him to be an established starter in the NFL, but he’s done very well with the expectations he’s dealt with since childhood.

If you’ve watched any of his football you’d know he isn’t a 1st rounder.. but he’s a manning so someone will overdraft him.

As the #1 overall HS recruit (
) it took him 3 years to win the starting job, sitting for 2 years behind a guy who has bounced around the NFL in 2 years. Then has a starter, he has numbers comparable to John Matear, a guy who is currently getting run out of town at OU.
The Richardson/Wilson comparisons are hysterical. Those guys where about as naturally gifted as it gets. They showed UNREAL traits in college. Arch hasn't shown any of that. He's an above average runner who can occasionally throw a football 60 yards. Most of his deep shots are ducks and he never really puts zip on the ball.
McCarthy went high because he played mistake free football and never lost. It turns out that was mainly because his team cheated to a level we haven't seen since prime Belicheck. Trey Lance was basically perfect at NDSU.
NFL front offices aren't run by guys who draft like they drafted 20 years ago. They're filled with nerds and analysts. If Arch gets taken in the first 3 rounds of the 2027 NFL draft, I will be shocked.

We’re talking about how Arch doesn’t do anything elite. QB isn’t a purely physical position. I bet he’s gonna kill it in the classroom as a QB and in the film room. You also know he’s got the media training and maturity to be the face of a franchise, even if it ends up closer to Eli’s than Peyton’s. Any franchise will take another Eli with 1.1

I think if the Browns don't have a top 3 pick, and one of the top 3 teams assures him they are taking him, he may go. He will not want to risk going to the Browns the following year

Think he stays in school and develops some more. No manning has ever left school early to be drafted so I’ll bet he stays in Austin for another year.

He’s already set for life. He won’t be burning through his cash.
He has insider information on how hard the leap is to the NFL. If he’s hardly standing out in college he’ll be an embarrassment in the league. He knows this. Get another year of NIL and another year of experience to better setup his professional and personal life.
He will stay another year.

there's a gap between he sucks and is his current resume as is worthy of being drafted as a high round qb. I think its fairly obvious so far that it is not.
He's not terrible but if his last name were Smith, people would be laughing at even asking if he should go pro.
Things can change quickly, he and the UT offense could suddenly catch fire, but as of right now, unlucky is correct, he's an athletic game manager.
Really given the leg up he had coaching wise due to his family, the program and talent he has around him, and they waited two years to develop him before starting him, it's not a great sign he still seems so raw
