It would be:

1. OSU
2. TCU
3. USC
4. UGA

If LSU wins out????

I don't think so. The SEC Championship game is the start of the playoffs. Georgia can't lose that playoff game AND make the playoffs. LSU takes their spot, that's how the public and committee would see it. Otherwise, why play that fricking game?

Is this your first CFP?

The committee looks at the resume as a whole. If UGA’s only loss is a close one to LSU on a neutral field, and LSU is sitting there with two losses one of which was by a score of 40-13, UGA will unquestionably have the better resume and get the nod.

Head to head is more important than having one less loss.

So LSU beats Georgia in the SEC Title game, and then has to beat Georgia again in the playoffs?

What the frick?

Just cancel the SEC Title game. We've all seen the abysmal ratings of rematches. Public doesn't want to see that shite. You had your shot, you blew it...there's no do-over. I

If LSU beats Georgia and the Committee wants to put Georgia in the playoffs, then they can't take LSU (who would be more deserving because they would've fricking beat Georgia head-to-head, nothing subjective about that) because taking both Georgia and LSU would be fricking retarded...THEY JUST PLAYED! We would know who is better!!!!!!

The SEC Champ game is an elimination game...not a fricking exhibition!

So the losses are all that matters? Because UGA's resume would not be "unquestionably better" unless that is the case.

LSU would have wins over 2 Top 10 teams (assuming Alabama doesn't lose to Auburn). UGA MIGHT have 2 if Tennessee is still in the Top 10, and if Oregon climbs back in. Even then, neither of those is over the #1 team.

I still think UGA would be in over LSU in a "close loss, everyone else wins" scenario, but to say their resume is "unquestionably" better is crazy.

Were you in a coma last year? Because that's exactly what happened with Bama and UGA.

How is that not questionable?

Better record - Georgia
Conference Champ - LSU
Head to head - LSU
Better wins - LSU

Again, how does that equal Georgia with the unquestionable better resume? If it does, then you should scrap it all and just go by record like the NFL.

1. You can't count Michigan out until the lose baw.

2. OSU/Michigan winner would be the #1 seed and TCU the #2 seed.

3. The CFP committee has consistently said that it wants the 4 best teams to be in. IMO if LSU wins out then I think they get the #3 seed because LSU would have just proven on the field that they were a better team than UGA in the SECCG the day before. Even though USC would have won the Pac-12 the playoff committee does not care about conference championships. The CFP committee has consistently said that it wants the 4 best teams to be in and OSU/Michigan, TCU, LSU, and UGA would be the 4 best teams in that scenario and be the 4 teams to make the playoffs.

While I agree LSU would be the odd man out, it would be wild for the #5 team to beat the #1 team in the championship weekend and not move up a spot at all.

Bold statement considering we already know the playoff is expanding to 12 teams in the future, which means MULTIPLE 2 loss teams will get in every year.

The CFB playoffs are expanding to 12 teams. At least one 2 loss team will get in every year. Based on the final rankings from 2014-2021 there would have been multiple years where several 2 loss teams got in and even some 3 loss teams.

LSU winning it at all would reinforce “the need” for an expanded playoff.

If the past matters, LSU would be left out just like Penn State got left out. UGA should be in because they smoked a good Oregon team. USC has a lot of close games in a weaker conference and no wins like LSU will have in Alabama and UGA.

conference champions should matter, but also, why isn't the sec championship essentially just an additional conference game? im torn on exactly how much to weigh it. should it break ties? sure, hard to argue it shouldnt. would this be a tie? im not so sure.

georgia at 12-1 (8-1) would still have a better overall resume than LSU at 11-2 (8-1) provided the game is reasonably close.

ETA: fixed LSU's conference record

LSU if they beat UGA..who had a terrible win yesterday. Bit you never know. Conference championship have proven to carry little weight when it comes down to money.

nah

USC would be out in that scenario. Barring LSU absolutely blowing Georgia out, Georgia is in.

I do think it's a legit question of who the last 2 in would be, in that scenario...Georgia and USC, or LSU and USC.

I think the rankings would probably be:

1. Ohio State
2. TCU
3. LSU
4. Georgia

or

1. Ohio State
2. TCU
3. Georgia
4. LSU
