It’s sad isn’t it?

This guy is a prime example why the game is headed in the wrong direction.

TikTok bullshite and instant hits of excitement have made football gay af.

We’re watching what should be an easy HoF player. RB’s don’t even matter anymore.

Shame on the NFL for doing this.

If Henry isn’t good enough for the HoF we’ll never see another HoF RB in our lifetimes. What a terrible oversight by the NFL.

My first thought was he he needed 10k (4300 more yards) but looking at the NFL all time rushing yards list makes me question that.

Eligible RBs that aren’t in yet:
Jamal Lewis (10k yards, Super Bowl, 2k season)
Fred Taylor (11.6k yards)
Steven Jackson (11.4k yards, 3.7k rec yards)
Tiki Barber (10.5k yards, 5k rec yards)

Then you have guys over 11k that aren’t eligible yet: AP, Frank Gore, shady McCoy.

I think he may have to get 12k yards at least

The NFL is a HOF is a sham. They put anybody in there now.

10,000 plus career rushing yards should do the trick.

AP is currently the only back to get in at this point. Henry has a shot, but is not near there yet. He has to keep doing it.

One or two great seasons won’t get you there. Look at Jamal Lewis. He’s a good comparison in all honesty to date. It doesn’t matter what the league is doing. Titans were run focused.

And in reality, Henry is aided by the league focus on passing because defenses are no longer built to focus on stopping the run, but the pass now leaving guys that are worse tacklers on average and making it easier for Henry.

Again, he has a shot and it would not surprise me if he does as he has the talent, but nowhere near it yet.

So again, what do he need to do to make it?

More accolades and/or volume rushing numbers

You realize how many notable RBs post 2000 are not in and have never even come close to getting in?

Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander seemed like absolute locks early in their careers then 30 happened.

Derrick Henry is 29.

What does this even mean?

He needs 12, 000 yards or 80 TD min. His best bet is to keep the TD’s coming. He’s an amazing athlete and a specimen of physical ability, but Father Time comes for us all. I don’t think he’s an AP level athlete. He really needs to do some heavy in his next two seasons before he turns 30.

If he stays healthy for the next 4 or 5 years, then that'll probably do the trick.

Pretty simple.

Double his rushing yardage. Get about 12,000-13,000+ yards and he is in.

10,000 or below and he is out.

Some where in between and I will grab my popcorn and watch your guys debate.

The 6'3, 245 lb dude who routinely outruns NFL defensive backs isn't an all-pro level athlete?

What a take

Even when he played behind DeMarco Murray it was clear he was the better RB.

I'd pump the brakes a bit here. DeMarco in 2016 and most of 2017 was excellent and Henry had a LOT of small carries that didn't produce much. He served better as the "clean up guy" who came in the 4th quarter to wear down defenses until it was clear DeMarco had nothing left in the tank.

That said, Matt LaFleur and Arthur Smith opened up the offense and let Henry shine.

I think if Henry hits 2K again this year, he's got to be the favorite for the MVP, IMO. If he gets MVP, he'll get into the HOF eventually.

But this guy’s story is something we should all get behind. There isn’t a better example of a young man believing in himself and seeing that Alabama could take him to the next level.

Yeah, how inspirational of a five-star to choose Alabama.

I think he meant Adrian Peterson. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sense.
