Let's turn a Hall of Fame thread about Henry into a bash LSU thead.
You would think Tide fans would have a little more respect for their own players.

I guess it depends on whether the Titans continue to run him into the ground.
His injury history is already shortening that career which is not very long for RB's in the NFL

Eric Dickerson had no SB wins (not sure why that would be held against a RB), and he was never named NFL MVP, in an era where RBs had a better chance to be given such an honor.

Four rushing titles, though; however, he played 11 seasons. Let's see if Henry, who has two in six seasons, can add another one or two.

I asked about Henry’s HoF chances.

I didn’t have a take.

I'd pump the brakes a bit here. DeMarco in 2016 and most of 2017 was excellent and Henry had a LOT of small carries that didn't produce much
This simply isn’t accurate

Oh, this thread isn't you pimping a former Bama player?

So anyone who doesn’t think football has moved past 1975 offense is “brainwashed”

Multiple things can be true at the same including the following:
Derrick Henry is a great player that is definitely on a HOF track though past usage and age are against him being dominant beyond this year at best.
Running back is a devalued position in modern football that you can easily replace and hence should not give big contracts to them.
My belief that Henry’s contract is stupid from a team perspective has nothing to do with where he went to college.
Define matters. Tennessee was 6-2 with him last year 6-3 after he got hurt and got the 1 seed.
Great player, fun to watch, potential HOFer but still plays a less important position

He’s going to have to continue to produce for 3-4 more years.

For reference, he’s got fewer yards and TDs than quite a few that aren’t in. He can jump some of these guys in chunks, but he’s got some work to do. Health is his biggest factor now.

Adrian Peterson
Shaun Alexander
Priest Holmes
Marshawn Lynch
Corey Dillon
Ottis Anderson
Frank Gore
Rickey Watters
Clinton Portis
Terry Allen
Lesean McCoy

Pretty fricking dumb take considering what the Colts are doing with J. Taylor.

3 more years of elite status, with 2-3 more of being atleast serviceable.

Pretty much. Three more years as the top guy and another two or three as a 500/8 guy.

4,500 yards and 40 TDs puts him in the top 20 for both rushing yards and TDs. That’s the minimum he’s going to need.

We can be objective as Titans fans and admit there was no doubt in the 2016 season that DeMarco was the the best option at RB. It was clear his motor was breaking down halfway through 2017, allowing Henry to emerge.

I'm obviously happy Henry is what he is, but again, objectively there were a few games early in Derrick's career where we wondered if he could be in the NFL what he was at Alabama. Nothing wrong with that statement.

He's far surpassed all expectations and is rightly the King.

He’s already 28, who’s the last RB that was “elite” passed that age for more than 1 season Walter Payton? Peterson had one great season after 28 (1485 yds in 2016) and he missed the entire year before for off the field stuff.

I didn’t say he was actually going to do it. I said it’s what’s needed to get the numbers to be considered.

Pretty good chance he’s going to end up another great, but not HOF, running back.

Yeah only getting 400 and 700 yards his first 2 seasons definitely hurts him in that regard

Henry has 7643 yards from scrimmage and 68 career touchdowns in 6 years.

Ezekiel Elliott has 9630 yards from scrimmage and 68 TDs in 6 years

Alvin Kamara has 7501 yards and 67 TDs in 5 years

So he needs to do quite a bit more to separate himself from his contemporaries and reach the counting stats required of RBs. Without several more dominant seasons his career will look a lot like Chris Johnson or Jamal Lewis, neither of whom are going into the HOF.

I hope he continues. I think he is one of the most fun players in the game to watch.

What's funny about the question?

I am an LSU fan, first and foremost. Will always be.

I was upset my Titans drafted Henry, simply because of my hatred of Alabama and love for LF7. I wanted to draft him the following year. I was also still pissed because we had a chance to draft Jeremy Hill in 2014 and wouldn't even have needed Henry in 2016. FU Bishop Stankey.

Once I got over my bias, I was able to truly see how special Henry is as a player and person. I am now amazed at how we can't even discuss Henry on this board without the LSU bias appearing. It's been 6+ years since he was in college. Give it a rest already.

If Henry was from USC, or Central Michigan, or whatever other schools, discussing his status as a premier RB in the NFL or his potential Hall Fame ability wouldn't be so laughable or exhausting as it is now.

If Henry was Saint and just as successful with them as he is a Titan, things would be different around here too. Believe that!

Henry was AP Offensive POY in 2020. Somehow the AP voted Henry the offensive POY yet named Aaron Rogers MVP that season. Regardless, a non-QB hasn't been named MVP since 2012 and only twice since 2006. Two rushing titles in 6 years isn't something to dismiss. And super bowl titles for a running back is not a prerequisite to getting into the HOF. That's just silly to hold against a RB in a QB driven league. Most of the best RBs of all-time never won a Super Bowl.

As to Henry's HOF chances, he's going to have to continue doing what he's been doing for another 4-5 years IMO. He'll need to get into that 11k-12k rushing yard territory and maybe a couple more rushing titles. Longevity is going to determine whether he does what he needs to do to get into the HOF.

OP got the thread off to a bad start by bringing up Alabama and LSU in a supposed post about the NFL HOF
