I watch LSU football because I love LSU
The players getting paid doesn’t change that.
I don’t want to watch a minor league football team, and thr NFl doesn’t want to spend money on it when they can just cherry pick from hundred of college teams.

I like the old way. If you transfer, you have to sit out a year. Now, rosters turnover so much that you don’t recognize half the players, especially in basketball.
That would be a win in the mindset of top players today. At least the ones from LSU.

Do it the way baseball does. For both basketball and football btw. You can go pro straight of of HS if you want. But if you go to college you're there for at minimum 3 years before you can go pro again. Players that go to college will be much hungrier to prove themselves or play for the school.

College sports has turned into an utter farce and is no longer even related to being a student athlete anymore. Why keep up this charade.
Shut down basketball, football, baseball and softball college teams and go back to Olympic sports as the only college athletics.
NFL, NBA, MLB etc can pay for their own minor leagues and keep kids out of college that have no business being there. For the players that really want to go to college, they can earn it on an academic scholarship, grant, or loans.
Just stop with the farce that this is in any way supposed to be about getting them an education.
You must be scared that LSU will fall off of the radar in football and possible baskeball too?

Kids were getting paid before, but we didn’t see it and we were okay with that.
A lot of people weren’t because they weren’t making “enough”.
People completely devalue the college diploma that a lot of these kids and young men get and rely on to provide for themselves after playing. It’s such an overwhelming majority of players that do something other than professional football after college.

I really think the baseball model is the best model.

This is an overlooked aspect. The school makes the name more than the name makes the school.
Sure, being a good football player helps the schools football success. But if we’re going for NIL brand recognition, you better believe having a script A or a Buckeye leaf on your helmet does that better than an Aztec or an Owl.
Big schools make the personal brand via your good play. But big state schools will remain big state schools regardless of whether you don the uni or someone else does.
Yes, let’s go back to amateur athletics. The NFL can have its minor leagues. College baseball is bigger than ever and college football would likewise be fine.

Is this your complaint that keeps you from enjoying collegiate sports?
College fans have it best when the universities have enough power to control player movement. It's better for the product.
Bleeding hearts changed that, and now money will drive player movement on a year to year basis. There will actually be a lot of mid-season moves as well.
I don't think many people would be interested in a minor league (basketball / football) that isn't associated with a university.

These exist?

Because a LARGE percentage of the athletes are actually still student athletes.

With NIL college players are pros. It's highest bidder stuff for every ball player.

Why are LSU fans melting so hard recently?

shows your ignorance....most baseball players, even at LSU are there to get a chance at the majors and get an education. Softball its simply a chance at the olympics and college education. hell 99% if ncaa basketball players are the same way. outside of the SEC 95% of football players are the same way.
and all of you cheered when the SEC was outspending everyone else. Yall are focusing on the elite of the elite football players and forgetting about the other 85 schools and 1k+ athletes that are simply trying to get an education and continue playing the game they love and that is just FBS.
but in the end....how does a player being paid by a booster or company affect you?
i dont like certain teams can now essentially be the yankees and outspend and get who they want. But lets say the lineman at LSU suddenly get the same deal UT is offering....how the hell does that affect my life? Why would i care? why would i not be happy for them?
yall sound like jeleous rednecks. Let them start building wealth as early as they can and remember even on a team like LSU.....max 15 kids a year become pro. That is max and that less than 20%. on average its around 10%. So most kids on LSUs team will not turn pro.
Why is it ok for grad research students to make a % money off their research but suddenly sports players are not allowed to go and make money on the side.
and why should a coach be able to leave a university with a chance to make the playoffs still but a player cant? Why should a coach be able to sit in a recruits living room and tell him one thing then the next morning take another job, but its not ok for a player to transfer?
why should a research proffesor get to make shite loads based on a % they bring in but a football coach doesnt get to?
personally i like the baseball model, but either way yall sound dumb as frick whining about this when for 99% of all kids playing football and baseball it is about getting them an education.
if you were a grad engineering student at lsu and had an idea worth millions. LSU offered you 5%, but GT offered you 10%........you telling me you wouldnt transfer and go to GT?
sports players are no different and transfering is no different than you changing jobs or a regular student transfering to another school.

College sports is/are still "real" in lower classifications and smaller schools.
You want to turn P5 and G5 into minor leagues, that's fine. Pull the band-aid off.
But there's still plenty of traditional student athlete college sports out therr.

College has it all figured out now, you have paid athletes, that you don't even have to pay yourself.
