I heard a guy on a college football podcast two years ago, I can't remember which one, offer odds on where Cal would be in 10 years: In the Pac 12, Big 10 or FCS/No football.

FCS/No football
Would we notice a difference?
Not sure they have been relevant since Tedford got fired.

Cal might go the way of U of Chicago and drop football all together.
I'm not sure they can w/the way they financed their stadium renovation. They need the TV money to pay for it.

I love the Big Ten making sure these reporters mention "we won't act on any more Pac-12 schools until the Big 12 does because we don't want to be blamed for killing the Pac-12."
Yes officer I did shoot a hole in the man's stomach w/a shotgun but I didn't kill him! That guy over there is the one who shot him last!

Interestingly, the ACC Grant of Rights Agreement does not contain a “choice of law” provision. Assuming Florida law would apply to a dispute with FSU, the Florida legislature could arguably do what Texas did to Mike Leach and make FSU immune from liability for breach of contract.
This would be wild.

Those road games to Hawaii and San Jose are really going to chap their asses.

They already have killed it.
So what do you say about the SEC taking Texas, Oklahoma, Texas AM, Missouri and Arkansas from the Big 12/SWC?

Difference is that the Big 12 has shown a willingness to reload and adapt.
The PAC has been delusional as frick about both what athletics are to a conference and their place in the landscape.

If ASU and Utah don’t bolt shortly, they are fricking crazy.

The Big 12 is not dead. However, I'm not saying the SEC wasn't willing and able to pick off schools for their own benefit at the expensive of another league. And neither should the Big Ten be saying it. I have no problem with any of it. It's business. Big business.

Thamel- Sources: Big Ten expected to move ahead with formal offer letters for Oregon and Washington. A Big Ten vote is expected to take place later today to formalize their admission, barring any last-minute snags.

George is truly the worlds worst negotiator and least respected executive of any major organization. Actually amazing

The Big 12 schools that were left behind really had no other recourse and are perfectly happy being a tier below the SEC and Big 10.

They just might be crazy enough not to go. Funny thing is, Big 12 actually cares about sports. Utah would be a great fit.
ASU will be a sleeping giant until they get rid of their president, who was in bed with Larry Scott, who started this mess.

I'm not sure about perfectly happy, but it certainly beats the alternative.
