Exactly those two are the conference and also based in hard red states. They own the big 12

Iowa and Nebraska. The two states that are as open as Sweden right now and aren't pussies Who've bought into the fear porn.

Iowa and Nebraska are also the only schools in the Big 10 with no professional sports teams in their state and have nothing going for them as a state outside of college football.

He seems to be a hired gun with this respect, and I think I've seen him flip the script a few times. He certainly is that right now for Clay.

I wouldn’t say he flipped the script but I think he wised up to the media in general. I’ve seen him reverse course on some things, but even when he said things I disagreed with on Fox, I could usually see where he was coming from, unlike somebody like Jemele Hill.

I do agree that he is cashing in on non-woke sports takes from a black man. But it’s obviously working right now for him and Clay.

I am an admitted unabashed conservative. I don’t want some athlete becoming some avid Trump spokesman. Firstly, because he sucks and secondly, I don’t want political hot takes from an athlete regardless of the side they’re on. But there’s obviously a market for just pointing out the insanity of the woke/progressive movement. Neither Clay or Jason come anywhere near supporting Trump on their shows or articles but they do rip the other side to shreds regularly. Do with that what you will, but I’ve never heard either of them advocate for voting for a Republican.

Assuming the current SEC stays intact, what other schools would be part of any super-conference?

Texas and OU seems a given.

Clemson is a given as of now.

Who else? The ACC is pretty depleted right now so you are probably recruiting states as much as individual schools. VT / Virginia and UNC / Duke / NCST could all be considered for eyeballs as well as multi-sport appeal.

yeah I really don't know why in the last decade the big boys still play by the NCAA's rules. I guess being under the NCAA umbrella you still get to make the amateur argument but those days are rapidly coming to an end

i mean it also depends on if they're focusing on FB or BB, too. if the SEC picked up UT, OU, Duke, NSST, UNC, FSU, Miami, etc? that'd be really rough for the Big10 and NCAA. how is the NCAA going to keep getting March Madness dollars to fund the NCAA without UK, Duke, UNC, etc?

I can see a situation where the SEC goes ahead with games and everyone else doesn't and the NCAA tries to get involved, and everything just dissolves because of the NCAA has no real power in college football if the big boys say it doesn't.

The leftist idiots that run the NCAA would never see this coming either.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face ALWAYS has many unintended consequences other than the mandatory rhinoplasty required after the event is over.

i think it's just holding onto a system that still has some PR and marketing value. you can have a new conference and keep the amateur status if you wish. the NAIA exists

i just can't see how the SEC can afford to cancel FB, in terms of the AD budgets and many local economies

Iowa has been punching above their weight for the better part of a decade, I have respect for them and their program.

well they can, just would be making much less money. Right now you just get to point your finger at the NCAA as the bad guy and count your $$$

but if that system is dying. Form some super conferences, negotiate a massive TV deal, tell the NCAA to get fricked.

ESPN/Disney has a billion dollar stake in this...if the SEC, ACC and Big 12 play they would reap the tv revenue of added games being shown that would otherwise had gone to the Big 10 and PAC...

I hope players and students sue the ever living frick out of the university and individuals (president and admin) for cancelling the season. ESPN already has to fill slots vacated by various conferences shutting down for the season like the MAC.

Having three big boy conferences means a lot of games for them and probably a lot of pressure to start moving some games to Thursday or some other night to fill holes in the broadcast schedule.

Given ESPN the SEC, ACC, and Texas/Oklahoma and they're laughing all the way to the bank. They might actually have a legit game worthy of primetime on ABC every week.

Nebraska and Iowa should join Big 12 for a year. Rest of the B10 can frick off
iowa and Nebraska being the dissenters in the Big 10 makes me think that the difference between schools that want to play and schools that don’t is largely urban vs suburban/rural. Relatively small rural states like Nebraska, Iowa, and most SEC states can’t just cancel one of their biggest industries because of a little political pressure.
