You can just require a waiver to play. The chances of a player getting really sick and/or dying is .0000001%.

My question is how would Forde even have a job if College sports are cancelled. Seems like the writers should be the ones being optimistic bc their jobs literally are at stake. I guess the allure of getting clicks now outweighs the high probability that a lot of them would be out of a job later.
He was downright giddy in the whole interview, especially when he talked about the SEC.
Actual quote by Forde:
"these schools like Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and S. Carolina are trying to be more respectful academic institutions. They want out of state tuition. So being known as a 'football' school is not what they want."
What an absolute moron. This is the guy driving the CFB fearmongering.
So up his own arse he doesn't realize a great football program balloons attendence.. Especially our of state.

If they play football, some will test positive. Some will get sick. One may even die.
If they don't play football, some will test positive. Some will get sick. One may even die.

Oh the old fallback... you're too scared.
Holy shite y’all are the most sensitive group of pussies in the world. I hope y’all’s conference decides not to play and you get to sit around and watch house hunters from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm for the rest of the year.

Wake Forrest PRESIDENT, not AD, just tweeted support for playing. That's huge. Too bad Wake is about as powerful in CFB as North Texas.

I have a very difficult time believing sports media is actively working against their own self interest. If you cover college sports and you’re trying to get them to cancel the season, you’re essentially writing your own pink slip.
I've seen this argument used ad nauseum defending the national media. Odds are they've been given enough rope from their bosses that tells them they will be ok even if CFB folds this season. After all, they have enough followers they can write a story "It's Donald Trump's Fault CFB Will be Cancelled", that garners 1 million angry clicks, and 200K happy clicks. Clicks = $.
There's also a certain amount of ideological horseshite with these national media guys. They are willing jeopardize their own self-interest to be "brave and contrarian" so they can impress each other. The smug factor is real - that's why they are comfortable taking the hail mary shot articles like "Donald Trump is responsible for cancelling CFB" to stroke their own ego and push political agenda.
Also you have to consider the sourcing. These guys are often carrying water for presidents, administrators, and the NCAA. Right now, these power brokers in Universities and the NCAA are scared AF of player empowerment and health liability. These people are just using the national CFB guys as a mouthpiece.

Every metric and model shows that we are on the backside of the curve and are trending in the right direction

Yup. And there's a reason why the Big 10 and Pac 12 are likely to cancel their season. The politics of their regions (based on geography) have conditioned them to to live a more fearful life during COVID time. They have turned a blind eye to any positive news.

Fair enough.
Don’t mind me. The world’s gone mad, and I’m all up in my feels.

Maybe for the smaller/local journalists. But for the national guys like Forde, Mandel, Wolken, they have nothing to lose.

they are "all in" on OMB and highly infected with TDS. they know this will be something they can blame on him
it's a combination of the problem most humans face with only seeing crises directly in front of your face along with this belief that they're safe and will be bailed out. hell, even the latter is kind of bullshite b/c they are so focused on being anti-Trump that i imagine they feel they can be a martyr if they're fired and can shed some of their privilege

Especially considering pissing off a bunch of middle of the road voters in the industrial midwest swing states only helps Trump.
i think they honestly believe they can spin it into Trump's mistakes led to "no football"

The Big 12 under no circumstances will let Oklahoma and Texas play with the SEC for a season. They would never come back and the conference would die.

I’d love to see Biden come out in support of football and watch them squirm.
