there is a very decent chance if the SEC plays, conferences as we know it will cease to be and a huge re-shuffling will commence

this may lead to the super conference we've all been asking for for 10 years

that's not going to happen. Corona and the related chaos/unrest is the only reason he has a fighting chance.

Correct.

It is clear many here have not learned that this is a literal religion for the left. In the case of a religious cult, the overall religion comes before any sense at all.

These leftists really and truly believe they can help alter an election with these actions, so they will go through with it. Politics comes before everything with these people.

no way

if football is affected that is going to cause a major shift one way or the other, politically. the left/DEMs are CLEARLY in the "no football" camp, and have already started pushing the absurd notion that the reason we can't have football is Trump's fault

i think that's a major miscalculation, especially with the Big10 being such a voice of anti-football. voters aren't that stupid

What will the rest of the Big12 do about it? Punish their two biggest linchpins?

Without OU and Texas there is no Big12. They can’t do shite about it.

If I'm Trump, I can't think of anything I want to run on more in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania than "elite" university presidents taking away your college football.

It seems sports media is degenerating into grifters like Clay Travis and emotional screaming like Forde. I don't think there is much of a market for sober, fact-based analysis.

oh i agree

let me clarify, also. i do NOT think the primary motive of the presidents is political, but i think the people who are gas-lighting the presidents are 100% making political moves. and within that behavior is a belief that this is going to kill Trump

right now, there isn't. that's clear.

Get an injunction to stop it or at least delay the move pending litigation. No way does the conference go down without making them pay

But how would the Big 12 stop them? Texas and Oklahoma are the Big 12.

What these schools (and the NFL) need to realize is that everyone is going to move on and find other things to do if there is no football in the fall.

he dominance of football on the weekends will be significantly less in 2021 if there is no football this year. A lot of people will have moved on.

That entirely depends on how much you value authenticity

He seems to be a hired gun with this respect, and I think I've seen him flip the script a few times. He certainly is that right now for Clay. There's a huge market for black people calling out the left within conservative circles and it's a big money maker. The question is how much is sincere about the content.

maybe COVID will force what needed to happen anyway. A super conference and split away from the NCAA

You read my mind, J

I can see a situation where the SEC goes ahead with games and everyone else doesn't and the NCAA tries to get involved, and everything just dissolves because of the NCAA has no real power in college football if the big boys say it doesn't.

it's clear the SEC can negotiate their own TV deal and the TV deal is where the money is. If you had a few stragglers from the ACC and big 12 to add in to the SEC, then you could have a real force on your hands way bigger than the NCAA.
