Gee, I wonder what we've learned about hits to the head that's maybe changed the tenor of protecting players giving themselves up.

Hence, why players are now paid more. I watched the game for the hits. I want to be entertained and big hits entertain me. If you don’t wanna die early of a concussion or a group of concussions, don’t play the game.

Dude he got clearly concussed and he got touched a "little too hard?" GTFOH.

Now we’re calling for a player to be suspended for the whole season without pay.

B/c he was clearly headhunting and this isn't the first time he's done it.

Take a lap.

The rule is pretty clear and anyone with an above room temperature iq knows the rule.

No qb that has slid feet first has gotten back up and ran. Same with kneeling.

Other players do it as well like Tyler Locket who always just goes down.

Yeah, he may have gotten a concussion. But I’m sure he’ll remind himself about his big-time salary and then he’ll smile. That’s why they pay him the big bucks.

Not on a slide, if the qb slides he can’t just get back up and keep going. He has given himself up.

There are two guys in this thread that clearly don't know the rules

So if he popped back up and kept running the defense should just stand there? No, pop.him one good time and send a message. Rattle him and make him think twice about stepping on the field!

I believe the Texans got 1 personal foul call and the jags got multiple and ejections
rules are pretty clear that you can't go after a player regardless - or fight. You have to let the officials and the league handle it.

AL shitazz was ejected for the hit

A defender going for a qb that gave himself up has been a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty since 1985. Stop trying to seem edgy and cool.

There's no "may have" about it.. Sunshine's hand clearly and immediately went up in a fencing position, that's a tell-tell that you have a concussion

Sit this one out.

Then again LSU let Bama take a dirty hit on Jaden and no one retaliated for it.
and they would have been ejected.

I love this message board

So have you just been watching football for the last 20 years constantly wondering why players don’t keep running after they slide?

Its not my fault the rule is ao convuluted. It should be universal for downing a player. And back in the day there were real MEN playing. Not these pansy boy sissies painting their nails and doing fashion shows before the games. The real men didnt slide!

"Well, back in the day"....look, guys, back in the day, the body mass of all the players was not the massive mix of fat and muscle. And at one time, the helmets were leather and if you led with yours, your bell would be rung, big time.
Compare what we now know about wrecking ligaments and detaching muscles. Some of the administrative forces involved weren't perfected 'back in the day', some were.

That 'fencing move' scares me; my husband was in a bad wreck and as a 20 something, he was doing it which got him taken to the hospital (he remembers nothing, but the doctor the next day telling him about his arm movement). The scars on his skull under his hair are awesome and awful.

It would at least be understandable if the rule was new this year.

I don’t hate the hit.

Deserves a penalty.

It’s not horrific.
