Do any of them teach classes?
I suppose they can if they want to, but I doubt many of them do. If they are also the AD, then no way they teach any classes, unless it is a special situation

I assumed HS coaches in Texas that were top 10 level made like 250k plus honestly.
the FOIA data is specifically their current employment contract on file with the ISD. This info would not include any extra bonuses from Booster Clubs, Sponsorships, Camp Money, Speaking Engagements, Driver's Ed or anything like that.

Check this out. When Traylor was at Gilmer, he also sat as AD as well as HC. After the 3A title win in 14, he left for UT to become TE coach. He had taken us to 3 titles and 5 title appearances.
We're a population of around 4,900. When he left, we were paying him almost 130K, making him, at that time, Top 10 in any classification. Some weren't happy we put that much money into a coach. He had the highest compensation of any GISD employee after all, including Superintendent. 90+% didn't give a rip and would argue until blue he deserved it. Me, too.
I'm surprised this list isn't full of 200K guys by now.

I think 4 of the top 7 are in Katy ISD. Also where the most expensive stadium in the country is located.
3. Gary Joseph, Katy High School ($153,877.26)
4. Todd McVey, Tompkins High School ($146,536.65)
5. Ron Counter, Morton Ranch High School ($141,055.51)
7. Chad Simmons, Taylor High School ($136,502.95)
19. James Rabe, Jordan High School ($129,716.62)
20. Christopher Dudley, Cinco Ranch High School ($128,467.21)
23. J Jensen, Mayde Creek High School ($127,499.77)
Only Seven Lakes is unaccounted for.

That’s a lot of cash for coaching HS football. But I bet the pressure is immense to win…

because they are not good
they went diversity from 2015-2017 and that guy wrecked the program. they hired Jimmy Hamon in 2018
he has been there 6 years and they have been terrible to average but not good in his tenure
quote:
Coach Hamon is entering his 20th year coaching and his sixth year as head football coach at Seven Lakes High School.
In 2018, the Spartans were 6-5 overall and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2014 where they lost a hard fought game to Ridge Point HS, 10-14.
In 2019, the Spartans were 4-6.
In 2020, the Spartans made the playoffs again with a 3-5 record, but succumbed to the eventual 6A Division 1 Regional Finalist, Ridge Point.
In 2021, the Spartans finished 3rd in 19-6A with a record of 7-3. They qualified for the playoffs for the 3rd time in the last 4 years, but lost to Ridge Point HS once again.
In 2022, the Spartans were 1-9.
Prior to coming to Seven Lakes, Hamon coached at Sam Rayburn High School In Pasadena ISD and Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend ISD where he was the defensive coordinator on the 2015 5A Division II State Semi-Finalist team.
Coach Hamon received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a teaching emphasis in Mathematics from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Before coming to Seven Lakes HS, he taught Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB/BC. Jimmy and his wife Layna, an elementary teacher in Katy ISD, have 3 children: Hunter (15), Bryce (11), and Cole (11).

The melt from coach salaries on the r/Texas and r/Houston Reddit pages has been hilarious to take in.
