Len Dawson won Super Bowl IV in Tulane Stadium.

The Dome should be replaced. They can imploded it and build a new stadium like the did in Minneapolis which is a great stadium. The Saints can play in Tulane for two years. Make a deal where it's only Sunday afternoon games for the neighborhood. A new stadium can be built in two years given that there's no winter in LA.

No doubt, especially when only NOLA reaps the benefits and $$$ from it! Make NOLA pay for it!
Hey look, it's that guy who doesn't know how taxes work regarding the Superdome and Arena. The LSED owns the buildings, hosts the events, and makes the direct revenue from them. The hotel stays, food, and travel are the rest of the big part of the economic impact. Let's look at hotels.

State sales tax: 5%.
LSED hotel/motel tax: 4% (only in Orleans Parish, as compared to the normal State hotel/motel tax of 2% everywhere else in the state.)

Orleans Parish sales tax: 5%.
Orleans Parish hotel/motel tax: 1.5% (Orleans is not charging its max allowed 2.5% to help boost tourism)
Nightly charge per person: $0.50

The combined city/state rate is between 17% and 15%. The state's cut is 9%. More than half of the taxes collected from hotel stays related to sports in New Orleans go to the state.

"Only New Orleans gets the $$$!!!!" Fail.

That's easily the most flattering picture of New Orleans ever taken.

Even the smoothie king center looks decent from a distance. Definitely a good pic.

You mention entertainment which reminds me that Jerry Jones paid 1. something Billion to build his stadium then had a big country show with George Strait, Reba, Blake Shelton.

Everyone walked away saying "this place sucks" apparently the sound doesn't work right.

Calling it the greatest stadium ever built because New Orleans doesn't have the ability to replace it is a terrible argument. Without the insane draw of New Orleans being a heavy hitter travel destination, it would have been abandoned years ago as the Saints left for greener pastures (which was 100% going to happen if Tagliabue didn't promise Benson the moon), and been imploded a long time ago.

The Superdome isn't the greatest Stadium ever built, it's the fricking luckiest stadium ever built.

Exactly but didn't they just spend close to $600 million with yet ANOTHER renovation? How many is that?

It's gotta be over a close to a billion in renovations over the years and you could've put that money towards a brand new facility but they keep kicking the can down the road a milking the taxpayers along with the NFL. Haven't seen the latest renovation but last time I was there (2019) the place was still a dump.
Maybe they get it right this time around but I doubt it.

Probably against the Orioles - when the Orioles were really good.

I also remember seeing New Orleans Pelicans baseball games in the Dome. The Pelicans were a AAA-affiliate of the Cardinals at the time.

Finally, I remember going to the Winn Dixie Showdown in the 90s at the Dome where LSU and two other Louisiana schools would play 3 schools from another state, like Texas.

In its baseball configuration the Dome seemed extremely cavernous and impersonal. But, at the time it was all we really had in the city and it was fun to at least get some “high level“ baseball Games in the city.

I had one of these hanging in my room as a kid...

Fun fact: Tony La Russa played his last season in organized baseball with the Pelicans before embarking on his managerial career.

Typical writer that doesn't know jack. neither won a championship in the Dome.

To be fair, Super Bowl IX was supposed to be played in the Dome. It was supposed to be the first game in the Dome. However, it wasn’t ready in time. Therefore, they played it at old Tulane Stadium. I was there that day. It was cold, rainy, and miserable. But it was the Super Bowl.

It’s also why the NFL will not award Super Bowls to stadiums until they take place after their first full year of operation.

The Superdome has many things going for it but the multicolored seats keep it from being the best. The GOAT stadium is the Roman Coliseum. It had a moveable roof and could be flooded (on purpose) so naval battles could be reenacted.
