The Bradshaw meme unintentionally points out one of Brady's best arguments: he was rarely surrounded with elite talent. The Steelers had a defense that is almost entirely in the HOF, plus he threw the ball to two HOF receivers, had a HOF running back, and took snaps from a HOF center. OK, Brady had Moss for a season, but other than that, he won 4 MVP's and had some of the best numbers in NFL history surrounded by a bunch of guys who will not be in Canton unless they buy a ticket.

Otto Graham still has the highest yards/attempt, which is the best one statistic measurement of QB's, but that's a pretty thin case. Brady will almost certainly be the greatest QB of all time because he is the best OLD QB of all-time. He had a great decline phase. I'd still take Dan Marino at his peak, but full career, its gotta be Brady.

But best player? Please. It's Jerry Rice.

Admitted that him and his teammates used steroids...

Relevancy to the statement that I was providing a rebuttal to?

I was responding to a posters assertion that no one would have won 2 super bowls as the QB and OC other than Peyton Manning. It was so hard that a dumb redneck (per this site on TB and anywhere north of I-10) was able to do it 4 times.

So playing bad first round and relying on your d is cool, but doing it in the super bowl isnt?

What? Manning threw 2 TDs in last years playoffs, total.

Brady threw 7 this year.

The point we are discussing is relying on your defense, no? You can cherry pick an individual game all you want, but I'm sticking to what I believed to be the original argument. Manning won due to defense and despite borderline bad QB play in the SB (and the playoffs, since you want to add that in) and Brady won due to defense and an unreal 4th quarter in the SB (which is the point. He played lights out in a moment that was much larger than the 1st round of the playoffs)

It is funny how I am the one being accused of cherry picking....

There is this guy who went to 10 straight league championship games that probably needs to be mentioned yet never does. They won 7 of those games by the way.

This guy also won 3 league MVP's

Averaged 10.5 per play and had 112.1 in post season

Pardon me for cherry picking SUPER BOWL performances while you are attempting to use a 1st round playoff game in your argument

You're the one who brought up cheating. Can't have it both ways.

what exactly is your argument then? That Manning > Brady because Brady always had better defenses? I didn't read the entire thread.

Steroids weren't against official NFL policy until 1987, so to be technical it wasn't cheating. Spygate and deflategate were alleged instances that were directly prohibited by NFL policy and rules.

I didn't read the meme other than the part about calling his own plays, but to prescribe that retroactively enforcing a rule constitutes cheating is a bit of a stretch.

Great career, great player, but not the GOAT. Hell, he's not even the GOAT at QB.

Yes Jerry Rice is the best football player of all time.... Brady has shown me that he has done so well with less than other QB's mentioned. He'll put stats aside and Elway led the Broncos to 5 SB's , 3 of them basically on his own... manning and Montana had much more talent around them than both Brady and Elway....

Montana had 2 hall of fame players Brady has had more. (Moss, law, Revis gronkowski McGinnis) I could be missing someone. Seymore and Harrison could also end up being hall of famers too they def deserve to be. All Montana had was Rice and Lott.
