Odd response to the previous post considering his injury came from playing flag football on sand.

Yeah, in the late 70s there was some really good play in the Pro Bowl. I remember one year watching Henry Childs just run over a few people for fun.

The post should have been:

The Pro Bowl we grew up not watching vs. the Pro Bowl we don’t watch now

I never gave a shite about the Pro Bowl back then either. The aren’t playing for anything. The Sean Taylor play is the ONE memory I have from prior years

rather watch the free agent bowl where guys get one more chance to put some good film out there.

I like the foundation laid out here, but let's try to tweak it.

Two teams of lower depth chart free agents and some practice squad players on the cusp of making a roster playing a real game to show teams what they are capable of doing in the hopes of getting offers.

No superstars (even if they are free agents. First and second position players on depth charts don't need to showcase for interested teams), no special rules, no gimmicks.

Just players giving their all to secure their future.

Call it the "Going Pro Bowl" or something better

I like it - real competition with real stakes

Yeah they’re not risking injury for a no-stakes game to “showcase” themselves

Drew Brees fricked up his elbow in the 2006 season pro bowl and the rehab time fricked the Saints over to start 2007.

Agree. People watch it and attend games because it is terrible

You guys cried about the regular Pro Bowl so they changed it. You cry about this as well.

In the end you guys will whine about everything, then when it gets changed whine about how back then when you use to whine.. it was so much better.

My favorite aspect of the old school Pro Bowl was seeing all the league’s helmets being worn on the field at once. It made for a very colorful show.

Bonus points to be had for shite like the Bengals’ Orange helmets clashing with the red AFC jerseys, or the Viking’s purple with the NFC’s blue gear. The Jets’ green helmets paired with AFC red, and so on. Good times.

But I don't mind it. It gives a chance for players to be out of the pads,

WTF- are you gay? Why would you want football players out of pads and need to see there faces? You want them to blow their bad breath in your ear as well.

The pro bowl in this format is an embarrassment-

Just don’t even play it

Anybody remember that offseason QB skills challenge that used to be on? I would like to see that with different events make a comeback.
