The same New Mexico State who competed for its conference championship? Say what you want about the level of competition, but NMSU is a 9-win FBS team in 2023.

Dude, just shut-the-hell up with this. My Lord you Bama cretins

Why the hell shouldn’t matter what “no one wants to see”?

Agree. If the case is "what people want to see" then put Ohio St vs Michigan in the National Championship and call it a day. I mean they draw the biggest ratings, right?

Let's be real. The main reason FSU receives opposition is because no one wants to see another blowout and FSU has shown no offense in two games.

It’s a ridiculous notion that FSU will be kept out because they played tonight with a 3rd string QB.

I get we like talking points and there’s a lot of Bama fans here, but if FSU wins they should be in.

It’s funny too because when Bama struggles to beat a 6-6 Auburn while fully healthy, it’s a rivalry game.

FSU struggles to win by two scores against rival UF with a back up QB making his first start and it shows they aren’t worthy.

Though I have no desire to watch a CFP with boring arse Michigan, Washington, Texas and FSU.

Go Horns, I guess...

What was the committee using to have Oregon over Alabama for so long?

I think we should use THAT criteria to judge these teams.

Why should UGA be forced to play in a conference championship and their entire season is on the line if they lose after being ranked #1 by the voters all year???

The same reason every other team in the discussion had to. Money.

None of this is about finding the best teams. It’s about finding the most profitable scenarios.

That’s fine. I get the money deal. I have no problem with that.

But don’t hold it against the team like OSU and UGA if they mail it in.

And don’t penalize FSU for going undefeated 13-0, and winning with a 3rd string QB

I don’t think Washington is blowing out Florida State. In fact, that game is very winnable for FSU.

Why does nobody talk about the fact that Florida St.'s team/defense was good enough to win a P5 conference championship game with a 3rd string true freshman quarterback. Not to mention if they were to get in, said 3rd string true freshman would not play

What’s the cutoff too. Injured left tackle? Top WR?

If a key player gets hurt the last week of December in game prep do they reseed?

I mean the games haven’t been played yet they can easily swap them out.

On a freaking UNDEFEATED TEAM to keep them out of playing for a Championship is absolutely absurd. What’s the fricking point of PLAYING GAMES if we are applying criteria like that?

100% agree. Not to mention their defense looked absolutely phenomenal last night.

By that logic, all 22 starters could be out with torn ACLs and FSU should still get in because they played at full strength for the first 13 games.

But they clearly wouldn't be the same team. It boils down to the opinions of a bunch of people about who they feel are the strongest 4 teams at this time.

Yep. They accomplished the goal of every team that starts playing in September.

What’s the point of going through that otherwise?

Why should they be ranked ahead of bama all year and basically a free pass to Atlanta year after year playing in the east?

Because that’s the rules.

Same thing as the conference championship game.

They got the easy road up front and had to prove it at the end.

They failed.

Jesus if Jordan Travis meant this much to FSU he better be in New York for the Heisman Trophy.

this is something a lot of the dullards on the other side of the argument don't seem to really play through fully in their heads.

I mean Brock Bowers is one of hte best players in america and a top 10 draft pick and we were without him for a bit. Had we lost one of those games, should that be completely wiped away and ignored? Of course not...so we're going to do it for jordan travis? So...jordan travis is important enough to the team to exclude them from teh playoffs but brock bowers isn't important enough...who is the arbiter of that fine line on which player is or isn't important enough? Taht's dangerous territory and it's not the committee's jobs. Nor shoudl it be. Their job is to look at resumes, and you literally can't have a better resume than 13-0 P5 champion.

People are going to be stunned when FSU gets in and bama is left out, and they're going to come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories or this that and the other, when in reality the committee is going to do what they've done the last 9 years and do it correctly.

Take it a step further. Do we not count bowl games for end of season rankings because many top players now opt out so it’s not the same team that played all season that plays in the last game of the year???
