Exactly, if college baseball was equal to AAA, then every college player should be drafted.

College baseball, even at its highest level, probably couldnt hold a candle to low level A ball.

No professional is claiming that college baseball, even the SEC, is on the same level talent wise as AAA.

When guys from the SEC get drafted, most of them end up going to one of the short season A leagues. Some of them go to rookie leagues (a step lower). Some of them, depending on the aggressiveness of the org, go to full season A.

It's still a big deal when a guy starts his first full season of pro ball in AA like Bregman, Benintendi, and Bader did. It wouldn't be a big deal if it were common.

In the early days of Zephyr Field 1997 or 1998, the Z's actually played an exhibition against LSU. I remember it being somewhat competitive, although LSU had to play with wooden bats right in the middle of the gorilla ball heyday.

I'll have to look at home and see if I have the game in my scorebook. I know Russ Johnson was playing for the Zephyrs at the time.

I think they had one before the Zephyrs season opened around 2000... me as a kid didn't know who to root for

It was before 2000, I think, because we gave up the season tickets after the 1999 season, and we were in our seats, as I recall.

Grown-arse 30-something didn't know who to root for.

Agreed. The Dayton Dragons have sold out every game for 19 straight years.

Columbus Clippers (AAA Affiliate to the Cleveland Indians) have to be mentioned. The last 10 years, they have been remarkably consistent. They have developed a ton of good players for the Indians, which have led to the Indians being consistently good. They finish in the top 5 of attendance every year. Huntington Bank Park opened in 2009 and was named Park of the Year, beating out the newly opened Yankee Stadium.

Class Championships: 10', 11'

Recent League Titles: 04', 10', 11', 14', 15', 16'

New Ballpark Named Park of the Year in 09'

2018 (73-67)
2017 (73-71)
2016 (82-62)* Division Champs
2015 (83-61)* Division Champs
2014 (80-64)* Division Champs
2013 (73-71)
2012 (75-69)
2011 (88-56)** AAA IL Champs
2010 (79-65)** AAA IL Champs
2009 (57-85)

Huntington Bank Park is an amazing park in Columbus.

Cardinals farm system is great, so the Red Birds are an option.
