That a way to shoehorn LSU into this discussion

The fact Don Shula got the Dolphins to the Super Bowl with David Woodley at QB cements the fact he is the GOAT coach in the NFL.

That’s a fascinating list, especially all the smaller schools represented.

The most memorable thing Eli did at Ole Miss was fall down.

I mean they went 7-1 in the SEC that’s the schools best SEC record and their first 10 win season in over 30 years. They went in the tank after he left.

still can't believe that doofus won two Super Bowls. Has to be the luckiest QB to ever play. He was bottom tier his entire career and will probably get into the HOF.

I don’t think he should get in the HOF though he probably will but he’s not even close to the “worst” QB to win 2 SB

If you had no idea Doug Williams didn't play Div. 1-A, you must have been born very recently.
A lot of extreme ignorance surrounding the history of HBCU sports. The reason I point out that Grambling/ Southern had more players in the NFL ( despite unwritten quotas limiting them) than schools like Alabama & all other P5 schools regardless of their money & " exposure ".

Shack Harris( outplayed Tarketon) was a TD away from Grambling having 2 QBs in a SuperBowl.

But he graduated from N.C. State, thus Wisconsin is not his alma mater

So, every QB on that list graduated???? From the college listed????

A slightly different take on Super Bowl QBs...

The school that has produced the most starting Super Bowl quarterbacks is, unexpectedly, Cal, with five:

Joe Kapp (Vikings)
Craig Morton (Cowboys and Broncos)
Vince Ferragamo (Rams) - Started 14 games for Cal before transferring to Nebraska
Aaron Rodgers (Packers)
Jared Goff (Rams)

When Goff went to the Super Bowl to make it five, the next highest number was three (Alabama, Notre Dame, and Purdue). Alabama has since added a fourth QB with Jalen Hurts.

If the Lions win today, Goff will join an exclusive club of QBs who have taken two different teams to the Super Bowl:

Craig Morton (Cowboys and Broncos)
Kurt Warner (Rams and Cardinals)
Peyton Manning (Colts and Broncos)
Tom Brady (Patriots and Buccaneers)

More random trivia:

A former Cal QB named Gale Gilbert (he was Cal's QB at the time of The Play in 1982) is the only player in NFL history to go to five straight Super Bowls. He was a backup to Jim Kelly on four straight Super Bowl trips with the Bills, then went to the Chargers where he was the backup to Stan Humphries and went to the Super Bowl again. His teams went 0-5 in the Super Bowl, and he only got a few garbage-time snaps in the last Super Bowl with the Chargers.

You may recognize his name as the father of Garrett Gilbert, who was thrust into the 2010 BCS championship game as a true freshman for Texas when Colt McCoy got injured.

In reality, LA Tech 4 Super Bowls, LSU - 0 . Only 2 LSU QBs ever started a Super Bowl.....Burrow and the late David Woodley.

What's interesting is some of the schools left out like Miami. During the 80s they were producing professional level QBs more than any other school. Kelly, Kosar,Testaverde, Steve Walsh.

Compared to what?

Playoff QBs?
Starting QBs?
All QBs in the NFL during his career?

Wait What? How many Pro Bowls & NFC Championship games have you played in? The guy outplayed Tarketon & was a 14-10 loss from Grambling having 2 SuperBowl Qb's.

This despite certain fans having a seemingly vested interested in Shack failing like Lamar Jackson & other qbs today.

They are called Chiefs fans.

I personally was pulling for the Ravens, despite Baltimore being a very hostile city to people with my limited tanning ability.

I don't believe these fans obssessed with a player who signed the largest contract in NFL history despite having no agent, are Chiefs fans. Yet they seem to have a vested interest in him failing just like many did Shack Harris( of Grambling) years ago.

But back to the thread

So no proof, just feelings?

Okay.

Carry on.

Just saw your comment... I should have gave some context... I graduated from Carroll High School grew up in the Booker T area in Monroe...exactly the same place Shack grew up... got older relatives who grew up with him... I won't get into it in on TD... it's personal really...your point about guys not wanting Lamar or other QB like him to succeed doesn't apply to me obviously

Joe Namath - Alabama

I saw an interview on YouTube with Joe Buck and Namath where he said he said he was called the N-word at Alabama because he had black friends in his personal life.

And he wanted to leave his freshman year. He didn't know the SEC was segregated and didn't have the best players.

Said he wanted to go to Notre Dame or Maryland but couldn't get in because of low test scores.

The Maryland coach told him to contact Bear Bryant, he'll take anyone who can ball (as long as you aren't black). So that's how Namath ended up at Alabama.
