It'd be nice if DART would extend out to Arlington.

Can't say that's all it would have taken. Imo, they just couldn't develop the land around Turner to make it into the ballpark village wave that we are seeing in sports. They probably wanted out to improve their value/bottom line, that's all LM cares about anyway.

I like what they said in the press conference. Looks like it will be very nice

Also those drawings are just concepts. It's not the actual design. They said they just started talking design

I'm quite interested in the actual design & theme.

The current Ballpark is a terrific nod to the classic ballparks & it really works.

It looks very similar to the renderings for Suntrust.

When they (Braves renderings) first came out, I was concerned it would be a ballpark tucked away in a mixed use development, rather than some cathedral to baseball. I would have the same initial reaction to these.

But as it has developed, it's coming together more nicely than I envisioned.

Since Arlington spends a 1/2 cent of its sales tax on sports stadiums, they don't have any more room in the sales tax to dedicate to mass transit.

Hearing the current seating expectation is approx. 42,000 down from 49,000.

The only thing I hate about all of this is that the Rangers & Cowboys aren't both IN Dallas with the Stars & Mavs.

Laura Miller really screwed Dallas pro sports during her time. There is no actual reason Dallas shouldn't have a downtown stadium & ballpark to compliment the AAC. There was plenty of land & opportunity for the facilities as well as the roads/parking. But it all go pushed to the side of condo development.

That seems to be the trend (we're doing the same)

I'm sure they'll make up for it with increased tocket prices, $8 beers, $10 nachos, & $40 parking.

Beers are already $8 baw.

Parking isn't that bad, I only paid $400 for season ticket parking this year.

I saw where they said it would be almost 500 million to renovate and add a roof

That seems really high. Is the new park going to have the same retro design or something different?

I hate disposable architecture. I guess it makes sense that Dallas and Atlanta would be at the forefront of that idea.

a retractable roof is kind of a waste of money since it's probably only going to be opened for 5-10 games a year max.

just make it a regular dome to keep the heat out.

Everyone in the comments section of that article was screaming to be put in downtown Dallas, my question is exactly frickin where? Uptown is uptown, Deep Elum is going through a revival, the only other place I could think of is south of the 35/30/75 clusterfrick

I think it would have involved tearing down 345 and putting it between downtown and Deep Ellum.
