It's literally going to be a smaller replica of the old stadium in the same location but with a really expensive retractable roof that should be permanently closed

How expensive was it really to just put in a permanent roof at the current park? This is worst fricking stadium project in sports history

This one will have a retractable roof.
Every new stadium should have one in my opinion.. Rain delays should be a thing of the past.

KC was going to build a rolling roof to go over both Kauffman and Arrowhead, but voters voted it down. But they approaved the $200+mil renovation to to Kauffman and another $250-$300 million to Arrowhead. Wish they would have approved the roof.

How many times a year do Astros and Diamondbacks play in their stadium with an open roof?

At most Houston will.have 20 open air games per year. A fee more where the roof is opened in the middle.of the game.

When Globe Life was built, retractable roof technology was new and had only been tried once before (Rogers Centre, and that took a ton of Canadian Government subsidy).

Nobody wanted a permanent roof -- Tropicana was (is) a dump, the Astrodome was aging, and the Metrodome was a dual-purpose stadium that suited neither tenant well.

To put one over the current ballpark would be challenging--three of the four sides of Globe Life are only a few feet away from regularly-used thoroughfares.

I think it would have involved tearing down 345 and putting it between downtown and Deep Ellum.

The only worse option is Fair Park.

There's a reason the Red River Shootout starts at 11AM--it's the only way to guarantee that everyone who wants to leave after the game can do so before sundown. After sundown--you take your life into your own hands.

Not sure why this place was even built. Tampa/St. Pete has some pretty areas and they put a horrendous stadium in a subpar area of town.
