Take - despite the flaws, CFB does the best job of crowing the best team the champion

Only the nba compares
Nfl is close but it’s all about getting hot late
Mlb playoffs are silly now
Expansion teams win it all in nhl

The NFL’s playoff system is vastly superior to CFB’s

Given that there are 130 college teams with a variety of different conferences & schedules, theres just no easy way to do it. I'm cautiously optimistic about the 12 team format tho.

A team with 4-5 more wins will have to go on the road to some shitty NFC South team again this year.

So? If you can’t win there then maybe you aren’t the champion?

Disagree. Some of the years it’s obvious and the championship is a formality, I don’t give them any benefit for that.
All of the pro leagues have very established rules and guidelines that are about objective as possible. It’s a system, any you live by the system.
The problem with the CFP is that it is a playoff system- it will allow for unexpected results like any other tournament. However, it’s only 4 teams, and the way it is picked is behind a curtain by humans. It has caused the entire landscape of college football to be very top heavy, just look at the results each year. 12 teams will make this worse. Very top heavy.

Right. At least there are clear cut criteria based solely off wins and losses.

It’s March Madness then whatever you want to put at a DISTANT 2nd.

Yeah, there’s no committee involved. Everyone knows what the rules are and how to get in. No surprises.

The problem with crowning the “best” team champion is the beauty in sports used to be the best team doesn’t always win.
But now with this complete fricking idiocy we’ve got, the best team only wins.
And frankly, if we’re going to only allow whoever the playoff committee deems as the “best” team then why don’t we just stop with this sham of a regular season?

At least the criteria are set in stone and actually followed. In college football, it’s a subjective guess by people who don’t even watch the games

March Madness is one of the worst ways to crown the best team as champion (which is different than “most entertaining.”) Only MLB (new format) is definitely worse, and possibly NHL.

College basketball does it best.

European soccer actually has the best way to crown a champion. 20 teams per league, 38 games in a season. Every team plays every other team twice (1 home, 1 away). At the end of the season, whoever has the best record is the champion.

Has there ever been a competitive sport where you can win every game you play and not be a champion?
