I would have thought it would be higher.

[quote] How many of us normals walking around have CTE from some trauma we've incurred just going through life?[/quote/]
I wonder about this quite often. I had several concussions throughout youth and high school sports. 3 pretty severe ones with one resulting in brain trauma and a hospital stay. Probably several others that were never diagnosed. I don’t notice anything abnormal but who knows.

There were some issues with the collection methods for the study. Most of the guys they are testing are older and played in the 70s or 80s with significantly different protective gear and rules for hitting with the head.
They also only get to test the brains that are donated to science, which causes a bias towards people that have CTE being donated because they noticed symptoms while they were living.

I bet you they're already writing them now. I bet you the people doing these studies are already compromised in some way.

Right now we don’t know how to diagnose CTE when people are alive, so we are trying to estimate
And there you have it.

a smaller 37% of the 81% actually deny such causations.

Why is it so hard for yall to accept the fact that ramming your head into another person repeatedly is going to cause brain trauma and damage?
It is common sense. Don't let the facts hurts your feelings tho.

Did not realize there may be some future studies out there that I would qualify for.

So they made up a number.
Follow the money. Who's funding the study?
An example would be "climate change". Those scientists lose funding if they come up with a different conclusion.

If it's common sense why do players celebrate by cracking their helmets into their fellow players' helmets.
Way back in the dark ages (post leather helmets, but less pads, etc.) players wore thick cylindrical collars at the top of their uniforms in part to keep the helmets in a more fixed position. What were the CTE numbers for those players?

They don’t do any good. They’d just be for liability purposes.

All concussions involve brain trauma.

Who cares. You cant prove it happened when they were in the NFL. It could have happened in pee wee.
