Southern Miss just seems like a great fit in the current iteration of the Sunbelt. They could really rehab their overall sports program and help continue to raise the conference profile of baseball specifically.
That would be a good handful of teams with Omaha on the resume in the Sunbelt. Essentially doing in the southeast what the Big West does in California, but with more competition.

Unfortunately, Southern Miss ain't having fun anywhere this season. 
Probably the worst team in FBS right now.
ETA: I'm all for the move to the Sun Belt, though. The SBC has more teams that Southern Miss fans would be interested in playing. There isn't much interest or hostility towards most of the CUSA opponents. Mostly indifference.

Man, the Sun Belt Conference is about to enter into it's finest era ever. That is going to be a really good conference in time. It's already good now, but with more quality schools, more eyeballs watching and most importantly...more money...the SBC is going to be a conference that could mature into a yearly G5 playoff contender. It’s an institutional opinion. It’s not 2 people. It’s 20-30 years of the same attitude towards other instate and SBC programs.
Do I want LaTech in the SBC, absolutely. It would be great for all parties. But I’m not sure LaTech is worth the trouble.

What trouble? In a few days either CUSA is going to survive or die. Tech would be a good get for the SBC and would generate some excitement for regional rivals.
If (big if at this point) CUSA survives, you don't have to worry about it, but if it doesn't, picking up a solid athletic program that fits the footprint wouldn't be much trouble.

Tech fans have been screaming for years that we are not a rival. All of a sudden, we're a rival when it's convenient for you. Yes, we love to hate you because of your smugness, but we also don't forget that when you were in the SBC and we were trying to build a football conference, you not only left for the WAC, you also tried to lure UNT with you in order to kill any potential of moving forward with football in the SBC. You wanted your separation. You now have your separation. It's just not quite the separation you envisioned.
