Funny you say that while Tech was refusing to play UL/ULM all these years, but now you want to play nice.

No, no….you definitely misread my post then, cause I’m not trying to play nice.
*How interesting that Cajuns have done whatever they can to distance themselves from ULM too, including changing their “athletic name” to make it appear that Lafayette is a flagship school with Monroe being a satellite campus. Y’all constantly b!tch about Tech refusing to schedule y’all in football, but when we did play a home&home recently, Cajuns were utterly embarrassed, both times. I kinda felt bad for Y’all.
The best part about that series is when your beloved Coach Smedium invited the Tech recruits down to Cajun Field to watch the supposed Cajun smack down. That was fantastic!

How old is Jeff Bower?

He's 68 according to wiki.

I was always amazed he never went anywhere else after he left Southern Miss.

Hopefully they invest more in their program. They were the orginal Boise State.

Southern Miss has a few major problems working against them.

1) The fallout from hiring Johnson as football HC lasted for years.

2) They had a lot of admin problems in the early part of the last decade.

3) This is the big one - they are a poor program. In 2019 their budget was 25.6M for the entire department. In CUSA, that was lower than everyone else... except for La Tech... which as the same problems. (don't know about Rice).

Southern Miss doesn't have the big name, big dollar boosters. They don't have any big backers. For whatever reason, the school and Favre don't really get along or do anything together.

They just don't have the money to invest what is needed to keep up these days.

and i dont mean that in a condescending way. i legitimately appreciate people who go to smaller schools like UL and tech and give a damn enough to argue for 5 pages about decade long conference realignment issues. as opposed to the losers who go to those schools and dont ever give a shite and just watch LSU every week

Hendo, I thought you weren’t a part of the nut-job RaginPagin group.
Tommy Mac said some dumb shat…pretty sure we’ve all acknowledged that. He was also a huge Cajun hater from his time @ McNeese. Tech has had plenty of missteps along the way, you can laugh all you want. We poke fun at ourselves all the time.

Even 5 years ago, I'd say that Southern Miss going to the Fun Belt was a huge step backwards.

Now? It might be an upgrade. You would have a lot more closer schools, a lot of peer schools.

He was part of building the program at South Alabama IIRC.

Not sure if he was actually the coach there but he was part of the leadership. Mobile is a short enough distance from Hattiesburg that he didn’t have to uproot his family to work there.

Historically, the school and famous alums don’t get along well.

Ask Jimmy Buffett about Southern Miss.

Congrats y’all beat us, no embarrassed us. So what? The game in Ruston was in your top 5 highest attended games in your history. So the smart thing was to quit playing us. SMH

You can throw the recent dominance over our program around all you want. I respect LaTech’s aspirations to punch above your weight. Never said otherwise. But for 35 years under Ray Authement as president, he actively tried to kill athletics. It’s no surprise that during that time LaTech dominated the series.

But to think that LaTech is in a position of power during this time of realignment and still hold the attitude and position that your university and fans do is delusional. Almost sociopathic.

Rumor that Southern Miss wants to have Fun in the Belt…

Is this official? Southern Miss in the SBC just makes sense. Mississippi and Florida are the only southern states that SBC doesn't have members in so it makes geographic sense. There is no reason for Southern Ms to stay in CUSA now that most of the good teams have been taken. Besides didn't the SBC have a better media deal than CUSA before CUSA got raided anyway?

Better than games that are Facebook exclusives?

During my lunch break I went to the LaTech message board - a coupe of points

The leadership at CUSA appears to have been flat footed at best

The university AD, President and the athletic department were caught off guard and left scrambling - appears they had no idea what hit them

Now - it is a message board but if a few of those posters are correct, Tech need to clean house and get some new leadership

This is your gripe?!! This why you Cajun snowflakes are so upset about Tech?!! Holy shittie!
Yeah..you don’t understand what a true rival is, you’d rather play grab/arse with your conference mates.

There is a difference between being a rival through fanfare and publicly bashing a school politically that is in the same system as you. They're two totally different scenarios. What your AD did publicly was not only unprofessional, but completely ignorant.

Let's not forget the numerous times La Tech has been caught publicly bashing the Sun Belt, taking Sun Belt schools off of the schedule.....you even cost Boise State, your own conference mate at the time, a bowl berth because you didn't want to negotiate with the WAC to play in the New Orleans Bowl against a Sun Belt school back in 2001. And let's not get started on that time La Tech kept us out of the Independence Bowl in 2008. Again, a rivalry is one thing. Public displays of smugness is another.

And let's look at it this way. I am sure both UL(L) and ULM would vote La Tech into the Sun Belt for political purposes (would probably hold their noses). But let's reverse those roles for a second. If ULM wanted to get into CUSA years ago, would La Tech vote "yes"?

You and I both know that answer.

Yes please, can you tell us one more time how arrogant & EVIL Tech is & how we’ve managed to sabotage the entire Sun Belt & especially the poor, oppressed, Cajuns.
This is all new, please tell us how you feel?
