Was he really? They never really illuminated his negative aspects when I was in high school.

Random but anyone remember seeing Wade Richey kick at Carencro? They played Barbe and he came in with 1 second left before half for a 65 yarder. I was confused on what they were doing and we were laughing. He ended up hitting the crossbar- no good

I remember him being inconsistent at LSU but had a bazooka of a leg. DiNardo sent him out to kick a desperation 64-yarder at the end of the Auburn game in ‘97 but it was blocked. He ended up having a decent pro career.

That Broadmore team in the 1990’s that beat nationally ranked John Curtis. Didn’t they have a rematch the next year? Details are fuzzy about that but I remember the first game vividly.

I still refer to a kicker who can hit from distance but not a PAT or chip shot FG as having “Wade Richey Disease.”

Lots of power, not a lot of control.

Terry Roybiskie of Second Ward (now West St. John.)

Three-time state champ and #1 recruit in the state in '73. He signed with LSU and briefly played in the NFL and made a career coaching in the league.

I will never forget seeing Lou Holtz inside the Field House on Millhaven back in 94. Spencer's size and speed was unreal.

That 94 OPHS team had Thunder (Spencer) and Lightning (Jermaine Brown). This was the last team that beat WM in football.

I was sitting in WM’s student section. Got fricking hosed on that field goal. No way he got that off in time. Like an idiot, I was up at the fence MFing every ref within earshot. I’m pretty sure we broke the barrier and poured out onto the field. But like a dog chasing a car, we had no plan beyond that.

I hadn’t thought about that game in probably 20 years until the Ole Miss/Tennessee game Saturday. While I’d like to think I’d have had more sense than to throw shite on the field, I certainly felt their frustration.

Never set foot on the field until his sophomore year in high school then wrecked the district.

Made it to LSU and NFL
