frick that. I'll find something else to do on fall Saturdays.

It's actually amazing how quickly they annihilated and razed what was the perfect American sport...
IMO, this has been the main goal all along. The total destruction of college sports is part of the larger cultural Marxism being pushed in every facet of American society.

College sports are pretty much dead already. Just minor leagues where the players make 10x what the fans do

I’m skeptical, because PE firms usually ruin things for the sake of squeezing out a profit.

Seems like a dangerous game. Private equity would probably frick things up even further and maybe damage the schools themselves down the line

Just wait til Jerry Jones calls his Saudi buddies to buy the Arkansas Razorbacks just to stick it to American Private equity.

If I were an eccentric billionaire, I'd buy Vandy an SEC title for the lulz

players union and collective bargaining agreement

Which Louisiana FCS team do we want to start following so it might feel like College Football again?
Grambling?
McNeese?
Nichols?
Northwestern?
Southeastern?
Southern?

I think that if PE firms try to "invest" in Athletic Departments. Said athletic departments should be dissolved and if independent of the school the Athletic Department should be banned from access to any athletic facilities on the campus including all buildings that may necessarily be construed as stadiums or assembly / events centers. All leases the University have with Athletic Entities participating in intercollegiate Athletics will now be considered null and void immediately once they enter into any agreement with a Private Equity firm or the like.
As such all former athletes will not have their scholarships honored and will be expelled or they can apply for admission subject to the requirements for any non athlete.

JFC, not everything is that.
Unbridled greed killed CFB, full stop. Go take your tinfoil hat off.

Capitalism run amok. Which is bad ultimately for those who are victims of it. Probably worse than anything which has the name Marx as a prefix.
If Landry and MeeMaw and Kemp would ban this and nip it right now they would be seen as heroes

Precisely, the ridiculous money going into CFB the last 10-20 years was misspent and misused due to greedy coaches, administrators, and organizations.

College football is already dead…beyond obvious the goal since conference expansion began was to back door a second professional football league in.
It sucks because college football and the NFL were great products for their own reasons.

You think a players union will help organize the current mess…?
Anyone with experience dealing with unions in the past 20 years in the USA could tell you what a ridiculous and naive idea that is. Unions are out to help themselves and their organization while nominally helping some members. Any problems that come up their playbook is; take advantage of the problem to get more money, tell their members the problem is caused by the company, tell the media that we have been complaining about this problem for years, tell the company to hurry up and solve the problem.
