“dozens of players” Well no shite, there were 3,057 players in the portal. There are probably 100s regretting their decision.

He acknowledged there are likely many more, he’s just talking about the ones he’s been personally told about.

A 19 year old trying to transfer deserves to have a destroyed career?

The guy you quoted is a little overboard, but honestly if someone is struggling to find a roster spot anywhere, then football was never going to be his career anyway. Better to find that out early. People of all walks of life fail at something and then have to recalculate their path in life. It's part of growing up especially in late teens/early 20s. So I find it hard to have much sympathy as well tbh

There's a huge difference between "actions have consequences" (which is actually my position) and "I hope their careers are destroyed".

Good christ - these are kids. It's exactly these kinds of mistakes from which this demographic should hope to learn from. You should hope it gives them the humility and tools to ENHANCE their careers.

I swear, some of you have been broken.

That’s the thing about playing the game. There are always winners and losers.

If they are an average player who got in their head they were better than they actually are, so they jumped in the portal and found out otherwise?

Your bet your arse I hope people like that have their football careers ruined. Don’t be a selfish/greedy prick and it won’t happen to you.

And they’re 19 years old. Not 12. They aren’t kids so they are old enough to make big boy decisions on their own and suffer the consequences

Yes, that might have happened. Along with plenty of other potential scenarios.

This is literally demented for you to say this.

Yes. Consequences. Why would one WISH for those consequences to be "football careers ruined"? Only a soulless misanthrope would say something so insane.

I'm good with "oh well, looks like you lost your NIL money and maybe even some playing time. You will probably have to REALLY bust your arse to get back to where you were. Live and learn".

Just because they lose their contract value to the team they were on, doesn’t mean they are worth $0. Of course if a bunch of guys portal and make more, naturally there will be guys that portal and end up with less.

Who the hell expected any different?

That doesn’t mean they are making $0. They went from the likes of Wake Forrest hoping for an upgrade and end up somewhere like Troy or USF. Some humble pie but they can still have a career and be fine.

While I’m sure a lot of these players are definitely getting taken advantage of, at the same time it’s hard to really for bad for them. It’s a valuable life lesson that the grass ain’t always greener.

That's true, but I wonder how many of them actually learn this life lesson. If they fell for bad advice to get in the portal, they're probably still falling for bad advice regarding their failure in the portal. I haven't seen the stat the past few days, but something like only 55% of the players in the portal have a new team from the portal. For a large number of players who enter the portal, it will be the end of their college football career and quite possibly the end of their college education.

Greedy players are the reason we are in the situation we are in now. The more of them that ruin their careers, the better. Because it will eventually scare players into just staying put

I’m assuming these are ‘grown’ men with thoughts like these. Unless someone committed something like a felony, it’s ridiculous. Get a hobby or something. It’s a game. They are trying to get the best situation for themselves. Some of these dudes won’t be playing any type of pro ball in 3 years.

I get some people don’t like that they are making legal money. It’s the system that they have now. They aren’t doing anything illegal. They bet on themselves and maybe didn’t find the money, team, playing time they wanted…

Yet people sit on their couches and say crap like this about strangers, it’s weird you want someone “career” destroyed because they bet on themselves.
