Some truth to this, but also when our university “leadership” had the chance to capitalize on opportunity, they’ve been as incompetent as anything I’ve ever seen.

Almost as if it was intentional so they wouldn’t get too many fans. Disaster and disaster in the planning and operation of events and Cajun Field when a key game would draw more that they were used to.

I think they honestly want to keep game attendance between 12k-18k. It means there won’t be high expectations. The one time they were competent was the SBC Championship game at Cajun Field, and it’s like after that they decided it was too much work to put on a decent event for 30k people.

Didn't you guys have great attendance under Huds for the majority of the time? What happened between then and now?

I think if they were able to sell tickets like that era with the Napier success you'd probably be in the AAC after the last round of movement

Hudspeth created excitement. The university wasn’t trying to squeeze every single penny out of the 2000 RCAF members.

There is zero accountability for employees that fail to deliver on what their job description is.

Tough day in Lafayette. Cajun/Pretend Bama fans sulking.

I don’t understand this dumbass myth these “LSU fans” have come up with. As a UL alumnus, there’s more UL/LSU fans here in Lafayette than there are Bama fans.

This, plus Hud was a socialite. There’s a certain large type of people in Lafayette want to be seen, and Hud made it “cool” to be part of the crowd at Cajun Field. The Hudspeths threw parties, his wife was in different women’s groups with the Lafayette social scene, etc.

Napier just wanted to win. He didn’t care about that other nonsense, similar to his mentor (Saban). Which, for a fan like me, I was perfectly good week. We can have the most boring coach in the world, but if we have a team in the Top 25, I’m having all the fun in the world.

But lots of people in Lafayette liked it better when we were 9-4 with Hud whooping and hollering around town.

there is a faction of ULL supporters and Admin that resent the stepping stone job status and want long term HC commitments like Robe

before Napier no SLI/USL/ULL football coach left the school for a better job, every single one retired, quit or were fired

so Napier becomes the first football HC to advance his career from Lafayette and they replace him with a local that is woefully unqualified and overmatched. I have known MD since he was a kid, great person, excellent Asst coach but not ready for that HC job.

Some of the hire was saving money, but some of it was trying to bring up “one of us” to lead the program and stay long term

This is an accurate take. Doesn't help that we can't fund the cost-of-living stipend anymore. Hoping that new Krewe Allons NIL collective can help.

Ahhhh, SMEDIUM. That Dude was a huge douche. I loved it when HUD invited some of the Tech recruits to watch Tech destroy ULL at home. That was pure comedy gold. Miss that baw
Is he still at Austin Peary?

It’s about Martin Hall wanting to be comfortable where THEY are at, more than caring where the program is at. They don’t want to have to put forth effort and expectations hiring a new head football coach every 4 years because of success. They don’t want the headaches Arkansas State experienced when they had to hire several head coaches due to continued success.

They got a taste of it, just like the fans got a taste of real success 2019-2021, and they don’t want that stress anymore.

Even if he/she did, Academy carries national brands all over country. I think I’ve seen Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame in Midland, TX.

It’s not a myth. There are certainly a lot of LSU fans in Lafayette but there is also a hard core group that think LSU is somehow a threat to ULL.
LSU has some work to do in the recruiting area going forward. In the last year, 3 Lafayette area kids have hit the transfer portal and left LSU. Other kids take notice.
Enter BAMA’s (or other school’s) local bag man and it gets interesting.

No matter how many UL fans want to deny it, the UL/Bama fans are real. The vast majority of UL fans hate LSU, so a bunch of them support bama
