Non-playoff bowls just don’t matter anymore. Yeah, ND could’ve accepted and had 100 guys opt out like 2023 FSU did. Watching a school’s JV team in a bowl game isn’t all that fun.

Iowa State and Kansas State opted out too. The bowl system as a whole is collapsing.

They must be scared

If that many guys were going to opt out it just tells me the team culture sucks.

No they didn't. They didn't win their conference....they didn't even lose in their conference championship game (something at least Alabama can claim.

Perhaps they should either join a conference or do what some people claim Group teams should do....go undefeated. At the end of the day JMU and Tulane at least won their conference. If Duke didn't make the playoffs after winning their conference then Notre Dame doesn't have any argument.

Wow. What a bunch of babies. They already don't play in a conference. Screw them.

Absolutely not. Get real.

Play in a conference or don't lose 2 games. Especially to Miami.

Iowa St and K State have the excuse of coaching changes. ND is just throwing a hissy fit.

And they have backfilled those spots with FSU, Miss St, and they’ll find someone else to fill NDs slot.

The games themselves long ago dipped in quality when the whole CFP began but they’ll live on because the entity that controls the sport wants them to.

Also a very emotional decision to make in the moment.

The coaches and adults in the room should display better leadership. Marcus Freeman is not what everyone makes him out to be.

It’s not. Pretty clearly calculated as part of positioning themselves for a renegotiation of their current ACC deal or a sign that they will terminate it.

I agree. Good for them. It’s their choice.

Now now, the media will somehow justify it since Freeman is the coach there now. He’s black so a weak schedule and losses to the only decent teams you play all year and opting out of the bowl game as a way of crying like a toddler is a-ok

I'd never send my kid there. Bowl games are the culmination of a winning season
